The plan is advance the center pawns, then move the queen out, then fill the gaps with bishops to re-enable capturing. Knights can develop at leisure, bishops still have attacking opportunities from their post on the second rank though if you do this, you need to be ready to fill in with king or pull the bishops back on the next turn. Rooks maneuver to defend threatened pawns so they can fill in if necessary. It's not complicated, it's just easier to demonstrate it than to explain it.

In case you're not joking, it had to be a full rank whether Simp played as white or black. But if Simp played as black, the challenged applied to the 7th rank (where the black pawns start) rather than the 2nd rank (where the white pawns start). Edit: Typo

@@anthophyllite Wrong question. "People" aren't singular, and they do not indicate he/she/it (third person singular). Most of the time add -s when the term indicates he/she/it (3rd person singular). There may be exceptions since it's English.
