Ronaldo was the definition of gifted, he was tall but not too tall where he would be janky and unbalanced, he was strong but he was also insanely quick, also was agile and smart, if he didn't get that many injuries or get hypothyroidism, there wouldn't be a debate for the greatest ever, i myself believe that even with Messi, Cristiano, Pelé, Maradona, Di Stefano, Puskas, Ronaldinho, etc.., Ronaldo still is the greatest ever.

Exceptional talent. With Brazil he won the 1997 & 1999 Copa America, scoring 5 goals in each tournament. World Cup final in 1998 scoring 4 goals and getting 5 assists, and best of all winning the 2002 World Cup, scoring 8 goals and winning the golden boot.

His season with Barcelona, in 49 games he scored 47 goals! I remember watching him play some of the games, his whole team was defending, he was staying in the midfield area, they would throw a long ball at him, and he would rip to shreds the opponent's defensive line, 4 guys sometimes 5 against a single man, and he would dribble and play with them, until either having some help, but in most cases he would speed to the goal and score!

And he was only a talent but was voted the best in the world. When he joind a indoor football club at the age of 11 he scored 166 times in his first season. At the age of 16 he was playing in the 1e squad (Brazilian pro league.) and did score 5 times in a single match. At the age of 18 he should have been worldplayer of the year but he did get it when he was 20 and is till this day the youngest best player of the world ever. And his stats as a talent with the performances are also unmatched. Neymar was a outstanding talent but Ronaldo was the best ever. Sadly destroyed by major injuries and the disease for sure started when he was at Real.

But the opposite teams did not only have amazing d defenders but also was known for their type of play that was heavily defensive. Indeed the most hard time to play in as a striker. Ronaldo could overcome everything. But not the biggest problem. And that was that they could make much more and much harder faults on players. That was the main reason that the best player was kicked over and over again because there was no other way to stop him most of the time. Even the best defender ever Maldini could not always stop him.

I think compared to the 90s teams run twice as much now therefore it was just easier for the defense to stay organized and mark your opponent's strongest offensive players tightly.

My favorite player of all time. I remember I was finishing high-school staying late to watch his final seasons at Corinthians. And I am from Bulgaria. On the other side of the planet it was 3-4 AM when he and Corinthians played in Brazil. I loved him so much and I was praying for Dunga to take him back just for the good old times when he carried Brazil. He might've been 115 kg, but you didn't show ( I think I didn't see the video in this clip) where the supposedly "unfit" Ronaldo outran a defender. Ronaldo made us love football in 2002. For me and my generation he will always be the G.O.A.T, because look at him - 115 kg doing unthinkable things. Every time you cross him off, he returns back even deadlier. For me Ronaldo Nazario is the best and greatest striker in football history, no debate imo. Also i think it is wrong how people call him some mean things, without knowing that Ronaldo had/has a disease which makes it hard to keep in great shape no matter how hard someone train. Ronaldo wasnt lazy, it was more about him not being able to do the things he used to do, which prevented him from performing at the highest level anymore. A single player can have a tremendous effect on a team, no doubt, and they probably would have never won without him, but he definitely wouldn't have won without them. I am not a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, definitely not, but I have also seen him play in at least 2 tournaments where his teammates seemed to be incapable of getting him into the game. Also, as far as I know, didn't he score in every other competition when needed? I don't quite know, but if the answer is yes, then sorry, to me that is just bad luck or whatever other circumstances. I doubt that he would have become nervous or anything like that. And I doubt that someone like him wouldn't have done whatever he could do to score and help his team.

Very good video like always! You have a very fascinating way to tell old football stories. Would you do a video about Giuseppe Rossi? He was a great italian (but born and grown in USA) footballer and striker, being considered a very promising player in his youth and potentially one of the best forwards in Europe at a point. Unfortunately, his career was filled with injuries and it seemed like his knees were made of glass, so he remains a big "what if", but I think his story is a very interesting one.

The most complete forward, dare I say, football has ever seen. He would be the undisputed GOAT if he wasn't affected by injuries left and right (still ended up being one of the greatest ever). He was so talented and his moves, speed, strength, skillset etc. were so vicious even his own body, let alone defenders, couldn't keep up with him. And with the current style of football and tactics followed, I doubt whether we will ever see another genius on work like R9. I consider myself blessed to have been able to watch him in his prime.

By the time he was at AC Milan, he already had 4 major injuries and when he got another major injury again at Milan that was it pretty much. I remember the interview very well and it would have been impossible for him to take the medication to help him due it being on WADA'S banned list for many years prior and I know about his condition because my mum had overactive and underactive thyroid meaning she gained and lost weight without any control and the medication available had many negative side effects.

As one who witnessed "Il Fenomeno" back then in his Prime - before the 2 Career-ending injuries he came back from and became a Superstar - I gotta sayx: None of the Messi or Christiano Ronaldos would have kept up with him. This Guy was insane. Then, the third Injury happened - and he even then came back. That was when he was on par with the best Footballers at his Time. I remember where he outplayed everyone from Offense to defense - and then took a detour to oputplay some Players he hadn't humiliated. Top Teams send 3+ Players to guard him alone - and that was the Minimum you needed for that. Because if he got the Ball - he scored. Games where the best Players Stats were about 70-80 and the Stats went from 0-99, he had a Star instead a Number - for 100. In all Stats - aside resilience. He was always very prone to injuries. This combined with the Tactic most Opponent Teams went to - just Fouling Ronaldo off the field and sacrifice one of their Players to have him removed - caused so many injuries to this Player. Yes, Teams preferred to play with 10 or even 9 Players instead to have Ronaldo on the field against them.
