Embraer was born as an initiative by the Brazilian government within a strategic project to implement the aeronautical industry in the country, in a context of import substitution policies. Ozires Silva Led the group that promoted the creation of Embraer in 1969.

No it was not this way. There wasn't any strategic project to implement aeronautical industry in Brazil before President Costa e Silva saw the prototype. Ozires Silva deserves all the credit for the initiative and the for effort in building the Bandeirante (together with his friends at that time).

Very inspiring story.....People are prone to underestimate others, especially if the person is a poor boy with big dreams! Some of these kids who could give big contributions to society, feel rejected by the mockery of others and get old and never make their dream a reality.....Others, like the gentleman in this story, strive to make their dream a reality, despite setbacks, mockery and negative comments from others. 😮

The video gives an idea of a few things related to the history, but just an idea. It is good see at least some things of Brazil's aviation history being mentioned. The Brazilian Aviation History is so rich, but only a few people know the real facts in a whole and they are all Brazilians. We can start with Santos Dumont which is always overlooked and people around the world do not know anything about him and all things he invented due to the strong "northern propaganda" in favor of the "Brothers" and to put a shadow over Santos Dumont. It is always like this. We can see Boeing with Embraer a few years ago. Boeing was very smart to bring a lot issues to Embraer. "What comes around, goes comes around." See Boeing today with theirs issues. To understand the real Embraer history, you need to know about Brazil and Brazilian Air Force history which will bring you to many facts and one of them is Embraer coming into life. Bauru, is a city located in Sao Paulo State and it is about 340 km to Sao Paulo city, it is not in the suburb. The city has about 400 thousand people. The state of Sao Paulo is about 50 million people and city of Sao Paulo alone (without the suburb) is about 11 million people.

The truly history behind the "world aviation" isn't what the Americans told you guys!!! The first man to create an airplane ✈️ in our history of Aviation, was the Legendary Brazilian called... "Alberto Santos - Dumont", known as "Santos - Dumont"... the Creator of "14 Bis" the first aircraft ever made!!! > "Ozires da Silva" creator of Embraer, is just giving us the continuation of that!!!! It all started much earlier with the first class of aeronautical engineers trained by the Air Force in the 40s and who would become the embryo of the CTA and ITA in the 50s where Col. Ozires Silva graduated. There is no problem in admitting that Embraer would not exist without the strength of the State training personnel, financing the factory, paying subsidies to regional companies operating Bandeirante and guaranteeing market reserves by taxing imported competitors.

Osiris Silva was one of the military engineers involved, but Embraer exists today because the United States imposed an embargo on the sale of Cessna T-27 planes to Brazil in response to its nuclear power plant development efforts, which the US tried to sabotage. As a result, the Brazilian Air Force found itself without a trainer airplane, prompting the military government to invest in Embraer. Another US embargo affected the F-5 Tiger fighters, where the US abandoned the agreement, leaving the Brazilian Air Force without the necessary upgrades and maintenance information. Due to these acts of sabotage and broken agreements, the Brazilian Air Force has decided not to purchase American combat planes anymore.

So, who flew the first heavier than air device or air machine? Alberto Santos Dumont or the Wright Bros? The right and true answer may force South Carolina to change their automobile license plate bragging right, eh? Anyone with accountable and proven response? I say it was SDU, what say you people?
@RiseReport
@RiseReport 22 күн бұрын
I believe Santos Dumont was the first one to fly a plane that wasn’t launched or propelled by something else. There are rumors the Wright brothers used a ‘slingshot’ like device to get up in the air. SDU did it with the plane and the plane only. In our eyes, Santos Dumont was the visionary and pioneer of the aviation industry. However, most Americans don’t agree with our opinion…

The actual story: Brazilian government built everything from the ground up IIRC with some consultancy type partnership with MIT professors to create a school of aeronaltical engeneering first and then a public aviation company (Embraer) that was then privitized in the early 90s after it was already successful and standing on its on. Public investment, private profits, a tale as old as time.

Yes that's true, Boeing planned to acquire Embraer, and the deal was progressing until it was terminated in April 2020. There were a few reasons... Embraer did not meeting certain conditions Boeing was looking for and also the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic had on the aviation industry. The Embraer stock took quite a hit, in Dec 2020 the share price went down about 92% from all time highs 😮

@@RiseReport 92% drop! That was a near catastrophic dive! Thank God they weathered that storm. I believe that certain companies (belonging to certain market categories) must always innovate and not just look at what others are doing. This is IMO, how complacency usually creeps in. Switzerland’s Pilatus is punching well above its weight in that domain. They are definitely a company to watch for.

@@RiseReportIn fact, this is not the truth. Embraer met all the conditions and spent loads of money splitting the company in order to allow its commercial airplanes division to work in the joint operation with Boeing. Unfortunately there were the two 737 Max crashes and the grounding of the model, together with the COVID restrictions. These were too much for Boeing that unilaterally decided to withdraw from the deal. Embraer sued Boeing and the American Court's decision will be handed down this year.

It really happened, check out Embraer’s YT channel and watch the cartoon version of the story. It’s in Portuguese with cc, so we made this video for global exposure. 😄

Starting an aerospace corporation requires multi millions of dollars of start up capital which no amount of selling newspapers or shining shoes will ever produce. It was his ideas that caught the attention of investors that were willing to risk THEIR money to setup the company. One could say that most large companies started this way and it was not some rags to riches effort of one person.

Brazil is already in America, so saying it was "carried out in America" doesn't make much sense. Also, Brazil was never "considered to be in the the Third World" because it was (and will always will be) in the First World. It has nothing to do with economic development; you probably mean a _developing_ country vs. a _developed_ country. The word is _aeroplane,_ not "airplane", and you probably mean Silva's _effect_ or _influence_ on the aerospace industry, not "impact" (crash force). Finally, the plural of _aircraft_ is still _aircraft,_ not "aircrafts".

The only country to bear the distinction "America" in its name is the "United States of America". Same as the US, btw, Brazil is devided into federal states, as is Mexico. If it wasn't for Brazil officially calling itself "Federal Republic" there would be three countries named "united states" on that continent. So what would you distinguish them by other than for the sake of simplicity naming them Brazil, Mexico and America. Then, "aeroplane" is ancient British English. All the Brits I know call a fixed-wing aircraft an "airplane". But totally agreed on that permanently wrong plural of "aircraft" being a nuisance.

@@einundsiebenziger5488 Well the only country with the name "Africa" in its name is "South Africa", but it's not called "Africa", is it? (Because that'd be silly.) There would be 3 united states, but not 3 "United States". And even then, the meaning of the word "of" is used differently in the names "United States of America" vs. "United States of Brazil"; the former is in the sense of belonging (i.e., the United States is a part of America), while the latter is in the sense of constitution (i.e., Brazil is a set of united states). So it would be Brazil, Mexico, and the United States, which is already the status quo. And it's not ancient, nor is it "British English"; it's internationally used everywhere outside of the US. That said, no Brit I know uses "airplane".
