My aunt and uncle lived in The Dalles at the time. They said you’d see these people all over the place and it was a scary time to live there too because of the attempted terrorist attacks. Side note: the Rajneeshees are still around and actively take down videos that are critical of them. Happened to Fredrik Knudsen’s video.

Oregonian here! My mom told me about the Rajneeshees and how she would see them walking around and immediately knew who they were because of the red clothes. She also lived in Portland so they made their way all throughout Oregon. People were legitimately afraid of them and avoided them like the plague. She told me about how they poisoned a water system and almost killed thousands of people. Also, The Dalles is pronounced the third way you said it 😂

🤣 That little ol lady "I don't want these critters running around the country." As an Oregonian, I remember watching a four or five episode (give or take) documentary on this cult, years ago. I thanked the pagan gods that they were four hours away then was relieved to realize they no longer lived in the region. I felt so bad for the farmers in that area. Sheela is a psychopath, a devil in human skin.

The way to tell false messengers from true ones is the false tells you what you want to hear, or they speak in words/ways that sound lofty. That's why they have many followers. The real ones say what is true regardless of how it makes people feel, and because the truth often hurts to hear, they usually aren't very popular.

So I'm from Oregon and I've noticed that when you talk to older people that were around when it happened they either don't want to talk about it or you can't get them to shut tf up. I'm from southern Oregon, but from what i gather, this was ground zero for a lot of anti immigration movements in northern Oregon. Also straight up if she was fictional, the way Ma Anand Sheila is portrayed in Wild Wild Country would make her my favorite antagonist of all time. But she's real, which is wild

ooh, I know this cult. that guy was a big deal where I'm from. apparently, he was running the ashram in Oregon with an ambitious lady called Sheela and allegedly, when the poisoning case happened, she was the only one arrested and punished for it, saying osho didn't know about this and the whole management of the ashram in Oregon was done by her (like how can you not know at all she was your right hand man.) but I feel like there's more to that story that the guy hid by using his fame and his believers. (yes I haven't watched the whole video, I just wanted to say what I found in the little research I had to do about the poisoning incident to make an illustrated article. I felt that something was off, so this is just my thoughts.)

My grandma gave me. Some osho books and it was dope it made me see him different when they released the documentary. I didn’t see him as a evil but as a victim of an evil system of oppression. I also think Sheila was or became a cia plant. They convinced her to do things that made the group discredited to the others outside in the community at large. If you seem violent and lash out at others in attacks on the society you will be seen as an enemy of the nation and need to be remedied otherwise they wouldn’t have any ammo to vilanize then. But hey it’s just a conspiracy right im just crazy
