I'm an American who's studied WW2 for many years and I personally think Dresden & Hamburg fire bombings could likely be construed as war crimes, for historical purposes. That being said anyone who thinks there are any "true" rules in war is likely deluding themselves.🙁

@@poppinmycollar423 well, it was a true total war, entire economies entirely dedicated to the war effort. But, Dresden and Hamburg were small potatoes compared to the US incendiary bombing of Tokyo. That campaign killed more than both atomic bombings. Wikipedia has a good article on the Tokyo firebombing, complete with pictures of the devastation. Always remember the wise words of warning: People in grass houses shouldn't smoke bones. I'll just get my hat...

I second the request about the Irish famine. Few people really know much about it...only the potato crop failed, other foods were actually shipped from Ireland to England to starve the Irish, who were considered an inferior race.
@danielbentham758

Two sides to every story. The food exported was privately owned and was nowhere near enough to sustain any lives in reality. It also effected other countries and the uk exported more to Ireland during that period than it took. Do you want a video on the portadown massacre?

Hearing stories like that makes me happy. We're always being told what the nazis did to us and how bad were the camps and rarely being told there were good people in those countries who saved jewish. It's stories like this one that reminds us that not everyone was bad! Even between monsters you'll find humans. Thank you for sharing this story. Edit: i get it that we're emphasizing all the bad ones to make sure history won't repeat itself but i would like to remember not only the 6M jewish who died but those who sacrificed themselves to try and save some.

Tbh I think most of them weren’t monsters, but afraid. You need a lot of bravery to stand up to society and challenge those viewpoints in times where you could have gotten killed for not being onboard. Psychiatrists talked to nazis and found that many were psychonormal. Meaning most modern people wouldn’t have stood up against society. That just shows how brave they were for defending mere Strangers.

Honestly, I doubt Neo Nazis will ever vanish. To quote a song “Meet me on the battlefield”: “We stand face to face, with our own human race, we commit the sins again then our sons and daughters pay. Our tainted history, is playing on repeat, but we could change it if we stand up strong and take a lead.” We as humans continue to shed each other’s blood in war, we make mistakes made in the past, and as a result future generations pay for our mistakes with they’re blood in war. This endless cycle has been going on for more then a few decades now, humanities history is built on us killing each other in war. We could change that if we stood up and united as a species, said no to politicians and demand unity, but that won’t ever happen realistically.

I disagree with the way the Pope Pius is represented. You can't expect from the highest priest to anger the merciless occupator eith thoughtless words. It is easy to criticize from the space distance of 10000 km and temporal distance of 70 years, with the Evil defeated, and all that from the safety of Your armchair. With thoughtless words (from the POV of back then) You want to hear now, it may result in major reprisals against the Catholic Church at all. And with that endangering all of its believers, and finally, there would be no possibility for Resistance to hide and act using Catholic Church's resources.
