I highly recommend reading The Great Escape book. It’s written by one of the men in the camp and it is great. It also has pictures of some of the men in the story and of the stuff they used to help them escape, such as the railway system and air pumps.

The Great Escape is one of my favorite movies. Seems it dozens of times. It’s sobering to know a lot of it wasn’t true lol. But it’s still a fun movie to check out if you haven’t yet. Coincidentally enough (or may or not), a 4K version was just released maybe a week ago.
@usonly1012 жыл бұрын
If it’s the same movie I’m thinking of, Nazi’s captured one of the escapees and said they were going to execute them. The reason being was because the prisoner was wearing civilian clothes and the Nazi’s could then say the captured individual was a spy and spies would usually be killed. That part of the movie freaked me out.

@@michaelwoods8654 Global Zionism... you're joking, right? Jews are just like any other minority. They were the victims. Even today, the numbers of Jews in the world aren't enough to "take over the world" if we wanted too. If you want to talk about MODERN politics in regards to Israel and the apartheid going on there, that's more reasonable. But in the early 1900s and 1940s, they had no power, no allies. Stop being brainwashed by white supremacists.
@MissSpaz2 жыл бұрын
@@zonk4881 In general that's true. There's a lot of nuance on both sides of war, every war. While not every German soldier was evil, and many were unaware of the real atrocities going on, there's no doubt that the axis powers in Europe (not including Japan in here, because in the end I'd argue that what the allies did to them outweighed what they did) perpetrated a great, horrific evil that can never be justified. Just how, in my opinion, the atomic bombs being dropped on Japan can never be justified.

The invention of the water heater can be traced all the way back to the ancient Romans, who kept large baths filled with hot water. The first patent for a water heater was given to Benjamin Waddy Maughan, a painter from England, in 1868 The Roman Empire lasted for almost 1,500 years from around between 27 BCE until 1453 CE. Finally, in 476, the Germanic leader Odoacer staged a revolt and deposed the Emperor Romulus Augustulus. From then on, no Roman emperor would ever again rule from a post in Italy, leading many to cite 476 as the year the Western Empire suffered its deathblow

That is a wonderful idea. Unfortunately all too often when the holocaust is mentioned many people think that Jewish people just went to their deaths when in reality Jewish people did fight back against the Nazis. Unfortunately all too often they failed and were then caught by the Nazis and then the Nazis not only killed them but also killed their friends and families and other innocent Jewish people. However in some rare cases such as in the Sobibor and Treblinka revolts they succeeded and were able to escape from the Nazis.
