I don’t know how the assassination of Archduke Fran’s Ferdinand isn’t number one on this list, or even how it isn’t on this list. The assassination initiated the chain reaction of declarations leading to the First World War. As a result of WWI, Russia was plunged into turmoil leading to the Russian Revolution, leading to the rise of mainstream communism. The fallout from the treaty of Versailles which ended WWI, lead to the economic struggles in Germany and the rise of both Facism and the Nazis… which then to to WWII, and the Cold War. Also resulting from this war was the fall of the Ottoman Empire, division of the Middle East, and the turmoil that has evolved there. None of this happens without the initial assassination of the Archduke.

I was thinking along these same lines. Gabriel Princip's assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand can, in one way or another, can be connected to nearly every, if not all, major conflicts/wars of the rest of the 20th Century and even into the 21st.

Another assassination that changed the World was that of the Western Roman Emperor Majorian. He was a great commander who was proclaimed emperor by the general of Barbarian origin Ricimer. At that time, the Western Roman Empire was dying and Majorian carried out a series of military campaigns that allowed the Empire to recover some of the territories lost by the barbarians, making people consider Majorian as the man who would restore the Empire from its misery as Aurelian did in the past. However, Majorian hindered Ricimer's selfish plans, so the latter assassinated him. This tragic event killed any hope of the Roman Empire to revive its former glory and it fell just a few years after Majorian's death, causing the beginning of the Middle Ages

Of all the depictions of Caesar's death, the best in my opinion is the one featured in the episode "Caesar", of the docudrama series "Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire." In this version, Caesar (brilliantly played here by Sean Pertwee) notices the Senators drawing knives as they surround him, but, instead of panicking or fighting back, he just stands still and holds out his arms, ready to become a God. The scene then fades to black and the episode ends

Why JFK? An US president is easily replaced (since they get elected every 4 years) and the consequences of his assasination mainly hit the US and were far less impactfull in the rest of the world. On the other hand the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand led to the first worldwar which in turn led to worldwar 2 which in turn directly led to the coldwar and even the current Russian situation can be traced back to WW1. WW1 also had a big part in the current Middle East situation and was directly responsible for the fall of 4 great powers giving rise to new ones, the US and the Soviet Union. Ah well I guess JFK is just more intresting.

The assassination of Aurelian should have been mentioned. He was called the "Restorer of the World".

I can't believe they missed the assassination of Umberto Alberti by Ezio Auditore. On a more serious note, the assassination of Shinzo Abe shouldve been included cuz the assassin used a homemade gun. There was also a communist leader of japan assassinated with a katana on tv

In my honest opinion, I think the assassination of Abe Shinzo changed the world. Even as a former prime minister, he had a big impact in the east.
