If anyone has ever played in front of an audience, you would understand why he's playing this way. It's a visual representation of the hype he wants to convey to the crowd. @alexbaum22042 жыл бұрын
@@fcfatitan6088 doesn’t matter how big his kit is, first of all. You just betrayed the fact that you don’t play drums. Secondly, I will bet money Carter would watch this one little segment and go “fuck yeah!” Anyone on here dissing this guy is not familiar at all with what he’s doing. The heavy hitting and all that is just performance for a large crowd. You’re ear isn’t trained to hear the ghost notes he’s playing. On the fourth bar, he plays a single-handed ghost note 5-stroke roll that is fairly technical and takes quite a while to learn. His ending fill is already really nice, but since we can see from behind the kit, it’s apparent that he’s using a heel-toe technique on his bass pedal. This is a difficult technique to learn, to say the least. Most just opt for a double-bass pedal, especially when they’re already playing with an open high-hat anyway. This drummer has learned a skill to greatly advance his repertoire without expanding his kit. It’s something that any drummer worth his salt can respect. You may not like the band he plays for. I have absolutely no idea who it is. But that shouldn’t take away from the guy’s skill, which is right there on full view and has literally nothing to do with the size of his kit. Different styles call for different kits. Different shows and different crowds call for different attitudes and different performances. Seems to me that this guy has figured out exactly how to play to the crowd and how to play his kit. What more can be asked?
@fcfatitan60882 жыл бұрын
@@alexbaum2204 LMAO what the fuck makes you think I said he doesn’t have skill? I never said he didn’t have skill I just said there are way better drummers than this guy. @@alexbaum2204 and most drummers that have been playing for a while can do exactly what he’s doing with a kit like that. Hmm.... I've never heard the term swing, used to describe stage presence. A better word to use is SOUL. Swing, usually refers to a specific sort of feel. Mostly in jazz or blues..... two notes together with a tiny pause and then two again, played with "soul" you could say.... sounds like "da-da.... da-da" on the ride, with the snare hitting every 4th "da" (hits, not notes because it may be 4 hits, but that's during a 2 note window..... with the bass drum on the 1 and 3. And the snare on the 2 and 4).... kind of thing..... But hey, to each their own. No hate or anything, of course. I'm just kind of nuts, being a drummer. Wish I could explain it better, I just can't write it down in the proper way. But look up a jazz swing if you aren't sure what I'm talking about.

Agreed. Plus all that unnecessary energy. I'd rather just throw my drumstick in the air and catch it or show off with them.😅

Also a drummer; Those heads sound like triple ply, it’s known they sound better when hit harder, thus the three layers. And no offense but as a drummer you should know he’s not hitting his drum kit. He’s hitting triple play heads that are getting replaced after this show and probably every show.

his energy is legit and very few people wouldn't have the same reaction when playing in front of that many people. It is nerves and all your fear (possibly making a mistake or the equipment failing), healthy anxiety, adrenaline and skill all mixed together. It is exhausting but well worth it.

Yes it’s a basic beat, but it’s the way he’s playing it that makes it good. Solid timing, nice ghost notes, nice fills. It’s the little things that separate average drummers from good drummers. Someone can play a hard, technical beat and sound like crap, someone else can play a basic beat with style and all the subtleties and sound good. I gotta say though, i can’t imagine he swings the sticks that high for too long without gassing his arms out.

I know a guy that plays at that level on every song.. even when they’re booked in a tiny pub. Great drummer, but just can not find it within himself to dial it back to fit the stage.

Its all for show the way hes playing! One of the newer Black Sabbath drummers Tommy Clufetos plays like that, except Tommy looks alot cooler when he's doing it than this guy. But I agree with you 100% Who is this guy, who does he play for?

That’s a drummer who gets through a lot of cymbals. You’ll never see a drummer that has to buy his/her own gear playing like that for long. You soon realise it’s not worth the expense.
