@@alexreid4131 because I've seen plenty of ppl get into music and even swap genres for the wrong reasons. He sucks. Mgk sucks. Real recognize real. And he ain't real. It's like those drumlines that are more interested in cool tricks and bs instead of showing off how good they are...because they aren't. Keep in mind I've been in this scene for about 2 decades and played drums for several bands also was drumline captain in high school. The movie drumline was pure cringe and then I had idiots wanting to join my drumline the next year. All the new ppl quit at band camp or later on. Drumming is either in your heart or it isn't. I just don't see it in this dude.

If anyone has ever played in front of an audience, you would understand why he's playing this way. It's a visual representation of the hype he wants to convey to the crowd. If you look the part, the audience will feel that energy. If he played with only the required amount of energy, the show wouldn't be exciting, especially with the simplicity of the groove. He's more than a drummer, he's a performer and a showman. You don't get to play in front of a large audience if you look boring.

Carter Beauford is on a WHOLE different level compared to this guy. Beauford is one of my all time favorite drummers from one of my all time favorite bands and, the shit I’ve seen him do with a kit 7x bigger than this dudes is flat out crazy. another really fucking good drummer is alex bent.
@alexbaum2204
@alexbaum2204 2 жыл бұрын
@@fcfatitan6088 doesn’t matter how big his kit is, first of all. You just betrayed the fact that you don’t play drums. Secondly, I will bet money Carter would watch this one little segment and go “fuck yeah!” Anyone on here dissing this guy is not familiar at all with what he’s doing. The heavy hitting and all that is just performance for a large crowd. You’re ear isn’t trained to hear the ghost notes he’s playing. On the fourth bar, he plays a single-handed ghost note 5-stroke roll that is fairly technical and takes quite a while to learn. His ending fill is already really nice, but since we can see from behind the kit, it’s apparent that he’s using a heel-toe technique on his bass pedal. This is a difficult technique to learn, to say the least. Most just opt for a double-bass pedal, especially when they’re already playing with an open high-hat anyway. This drummer has learned a skill to greatly advance his repertoire without expanding his kit. It’s something that any drummer worth his salt can respect. You may not like the band he plays for. I have absolutely no idea who it is. But that shouldn’t take away from the guy’s skill, which is right there on full view and has literally nothing to do with the size of his kit. Different styles call for different kits. Different shows and different crowds call for different attitudes and different performances. Seems to me that this guy has figured out exactly how to play to the crowd and how to play his kit. What more can be asked?
@fcfatitan6088
@fcfatitan6088 2 жыл бұрын
@@alexbaum2204 LMAO what the fuck makes you think I said he doesn’t have skill? I never said he didn’t have skill I just said there are way better drummers than this guy. The shit he’s playing is not nearly as technical as you fucking think. “Ghost notes” shut the fuck up the only thing involving a ghost is the people you talk to after typing out shit like that
@fcfatitan6088
@fcfatitan6088 2 жыл бұрын
@@alexbaum2204 and most drummers that have been playing for a while can do exactly what he’s doing with a kit like that. I’ve seen countless drummers pull shit off way harder than this with a kit the same size or hell even smaller. One of the first things most drummers learn when they want to expand their skill set is to learn how to fully use a single kick rather than expanding to two.

Hmm.... I've never heard the term swing, used to describe stage presence. A better word to use is SOUL. Swing, usually refers to a specific sort of feel. Mostly in jazz or blues..... two notes together with a tiny pause and then two again, played with "soul" you could say.... sounds like "da-da.... da-da" on the ride, with the snare hitting every 4th "da" (hits, not notes because it may be 4 hits, but that's during a 2 note window..... with the bass drum on the 1 and 3. And the snare on the 2 and 4).... kind of thing..... But hey, to each their own. No hate or anything, of course. I'm just kind of nuts, being a drummer. Wish I could explain it better, I just can't write it down in the proper way. But look up a jazz swing if you aren't sure what I'm talking about.

@@TheSkarlander Charlie was great in the 60s and 70s. Midnight rambler from Brussels affair (live version from goats head soup deluxe edition) is a perfect example of a drummer that leads the band and that drives them forward. He is a master in keeping it simple, but also in making it work. Some drummers forget that, even John bonham, whom I think is the best drummer ever, lacks this ability sometimes.

As a drummer it hurts how he is treating his cymbals, including his hi-hats. He is hitting it so extremely hard that if he does it everytime he plays the drums, it wont take a long time and the first cymbal is broken. And there is the fact: he isnt angry.

Also a drummer; Those heads sound like triple ply, it’s known they sound better when hit harder, thus the three layers. And no offense but as a drummer you should know he’s not hitting his drum kit. He’s hitting triple play heads that are getting replaced after this show and probably every show.

Yes it’s a basic beat, but it’s the way he’s playing it that makes it good. Solid timing, nice ghost notes, nice fills. It’s the little things that separate average drummers from good drummers. Someone can play a hard, technical beat and sound like crap, someone else can play a basic beat with style and all the subtleties and sound good. I gotta say though, i can’t imagine he swings the sticks that high for too long without gassing his arms out.
