thank god I didn't have this man as a teacher - since I most likely would be studying flies now otherwise. Very gripping, intelligent talk.

Wish he wasn't so nervous, this discovery is really amazing. Before this video i thought the Dragonfly was the most impressive in terms of flight maneuverability ; i suppose i need to reconsider the complexity of those creatures further in the evolutionary chain. Gr8 job Michael !! I wonder if u had to develop skills similar to those of professional watchmakers and develop a steady hand? how to handle such tiny beings to accurately pinpoint the proper neuron to plug into; i can not begin to imaging the hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills necessary to set the fly up, but i am certain its more challenging that playing the board-game Operation.

I gotta stop watching this channel videos at 2 AM But actually, this is great. I'll look at flies in a different way from now on, and man I'd really love to know more about them because I would have never thought their brains could be so complex and efficient

They have much much less neurons, but much more complex ones. Their brains aren't more sophisticated, just a lot more complex.

Well, kind of. You still win, as your point is still valid, but both "walk" and "swim" are nouns as well as verbs, check the dictionary. What you actually mean to say is that neither walk nor swim can refer to any animal, mainly the acts of walking and swimming and a few other things.

Flys may have more neurons in the brain than humans, but there is no way that their brains are more sophisticated than ours.

Awesome, but how can you believe that a process like evolution produced this level of specified engineering. Why is it that if we see a non living organism with similar engineering mechanisms we would assume it was the product of human intelligence, but when we see an living organism that has a consciousness, something we have yet to explain the origin of, we say it was random chance.

How do fish fish? Surely this is the only winner. The word "fly" is both a verb and a noun. The word "fish" is both a verb and a noun. The word "walk" is not a noun. The word "swim" is not a noun. I win. Goodbye.
