Thank you for this video , I underwent an Acl reconstruction and miniscus repair surgery . Been on non weight bearing for about 3 weeks now . Went to the doc today told me to extend the non weight bearing for another 2 weeks , hearing that sucked . At the end recovery and longevity of the knee is all that matters . Can’t wait to get back out there and play some football again . Stay strong peeps . Only good days ahead .

Thanks for the informative video. I can confirm, my ACL donor reconstruction surgery and meniscus repair changed to meniscus root tear repair as well. This has done a real number on my original outlook on recovery. Originally I was told 4-6 weeks return to work without restrictions with continued PT. Nowwww…it’s 6 weeks of crutches non weight bearing, full time locked brace. My PT started 7 days after surgery. I just can’t wait to get on my bicycle I just feel like it’s going to make a huge difference. But more than anything I want to be able to go back to work. I am worried about my ACL 3 month mark where the graft begins regeneration.

Yep, it all depends on how many procedures have been done. 'ACL surgery' it is a bit of an umbrella term. For example, I had 'ACL surgery', which actually means ACL reconstruction from hamstring tendon, antero-lateral ligament fixation and meniscal suture (not shaved/trimmed). Any on these will add to pain, recovery time, exercises, etc

I am 4 months post ACL and flap tear meniscus surgery. My condition heading into surgery was not so good, having a jammed knee with very little ROM for about 2 months. Post-op has been very slow. I have managed to go up to ~120 ROM, but the extension is still a bit ways away. My physio and doctor both agree that I have PFPS with a very stiff patella that restricts movement and causes uncomfortable clicking. Would you have any experience with patients/clients who have had this and needed a longer time for getting back? thanks again for the informative video!

My surgeon / doctor just told me to do the same as any ACL surgery even though I also had the meniscus repair. It’s been a month and I still can’t walk normally or lift my leg. I’m literally at my breaking point, I’m crying as I write this because everyone else are already able to walk normally. Is this possible because of the meniscus? Is that why I’m late?

I underwent an acl reconstruction and medial meniscus surgery on 10/01/2023. The doctor placed an implant in respect of meniscus. Frankly speaking not much pain now . Started the therapy on the next day of surgery . However not allowed to put weight on the operated leg/knee. Don’t know for how long I have to walk on crutches with hanging the operated leg in air. Meniscus repair needs to be specified, regular vs root tear repair, this is important because you're rehab process is different with a root tear meniscus repair. ACL/meniscus repairs seem to do better than just a meniscus repair alone, there is belief the stem cell response helps the healing vs just meniscus repair alone.

Hi! Thank you so much for all this info, it is super helpful. I just had my second ACL recon & meniscus medial repair on 08/29/23. My doc said I can put full weight on right away. I was able to start walking without crutches after one week. I began my first PT on 9/8/23. I’ve been struggling to bend my knee, supposed to receive the CPM machine to help me with my range of motion. I get this really painful sharp pain every time I try to bend, is this normal? Currently at only 10-12 degree bend. My doc wanted me to start bending to 45 degrees the day after surgery. Hoping this can improve soon. I am going into my third week post surgery and after binge watching your channel I’m starting to feel like I’m behind on my recovery process.

appreciate you sharing some info. i do think it is common for people to experience pain as they are working into new ranges. it's important that you get a consistent routine down to nudge the knee along.
