Mitsu needs to bring this back in 2022 with improvements to compete with other brands....without the $40,000 price tag most others carry. I would jump on it.

Mitsubishi is partly owned by Nissan now and part of the alliance with Renault we might see them release a EV full size suv.

Well there is an EK X EV but for now only for Japanese market. However, this model should be able to go global soon enough in any possible ways.

Very cool to learn about the car i have been driving for the past few years. It has been almost flawless since i bought it new in 2014, but for the battery pack which quit holding a good charge, but guess what, Mitsubishi replaced it free, in 2015 on a 2012 car. Very impressed, the new battery pack has held its reserve correctly now since its return, and i LOVE this car. Will buy more used now, as a result, as they are not very expensive for a great car. About a $1 per night to charge at home on a 110V plug.

wow what happened with the pack? My 2012(45,000km)went from 130km in 30C temp to only 35km in -20C temp. Winnipeg weather sucks.

JBtucson If you don't mind me asking, how is the heater and the the AC in this car? Have you heard of solar powered coolers that could be used?
@Liefpj
@Liefpj 7 жыл бұрын
the ac is like a normal car but the heat is weak in -20C. They both suck the battery so i try not to use them....get used to windows down to cool down and dress warm! never heard of solar coolers.. the iMiev makes a great second car. We struggle to share it between the wife's job and my courier job. Looking at getting a nissan cube since she is now pregnant.

Great, thanks for the reply. I've been thinking about buying an i-miev in the near future for a first car. I live in the suburbs of Puget Sound where the traffic can get pretty heavy if you want to go to Seattle. It also gets hot in the summer. Reached 93°F last year. My regards to your family.

Although a footnote now, the i-Miev deserves recognition for being the first mass-produced electric car. If they made this car today, that battery would be twice the capacity and still be the same size.

Good news, Mitsubishi is having another go with their EK X(cross) EV with Nissan's help by rebading as Sakura (EV version of Dayz) and Japanese government's subsidies as well as other beneficial specifically for EV keis. ICE keis benefits have been greatly reduced and Kei "taxes" have hiked as well. For that, Mitsubishi EK X EV and Nissan Sakura should have better sales on their new kei EVs (than before). We should give Mitsubishi another chance. Not to mentions things are promising inside out.

Wicked torque, lol! What they need to do is merge the iMiev and the Mirage, as a hybrid. Use the 60kWh motor for acceleration, and use a 1 liter 3 cylinder engine for cruising, and maintaining highway speed. A single gear could keep the engine running at it's peak torque band, or switch to HP band. It needs an ECVT for the engine though. 60HP is barely enough for braking and acceleration up to 45MPH. A 1 liter engine is good enough for cruising at highway speeds, at 3-4k rpm (60-80MPH), allowing added range. I would not recommend the 1 liter 3 cylinder engine as a range extender. It's actually directly driving the vehicle, rather than driving a generator.
@t8polestarcyan22
@t8polestarcyan22 2 жыл бұрын
No need. Mirage can easily go pure electric. Range maybe short but should be more than enough for any short commutes. For long drives, you're better off with a larger car.
@ProDigit80
@ProDigit80 2 жыл бұрын
@@t8polestarcyan22 my range anxiety on my hybrid starts when an electric car has a full charge. Meaning, once my 600 mile range hybrid reaches 200 miles of range, I keep my eyes out on good priced gas stations. Most of the time I find one within 75 miles, but occasionally I had to refuel with only 50 miles of range left. Now, that's worrying after I already did 400 miles. A mirage ev isn't for me. A hybrid is what I need.
@t8polestarcyan22

@@ProDigit80 Then you might as well go Outlander PHEV or Eclipse Cross PHEV. Small cars are supposed to be for city commutes anyway and therefore should be fine to be pure evs.

@@t8polestarcyan22 not true. In Europe, cars like the Mirage and much smaller ones were used to go cross country and even cross continent; some with engines as small as 350cc.

Wait until your charger go bad ( what is happen 8 to 10 cars )or the battery pack! Then you need a charger for 4000 euro and a battery pack for 10.000 Euros! And don t think that you can buy a used because all are vin coded !!! So driving an imiev is more expensive as a normal small car after 15 years! Thanks to Mitsubishi that show as once again what is to drive an electric car!! Green drive looks different !

My on board charger recently just "blew up", yes it's true that if i go back to mitsubishi i'd be up for $5000AUD bill plus labour... I decided to open it up only to fine the root cause is a blown capacitor which cost me 70 cents to replace (together with some basic electronics experience). After 130,000kms i fail to see your argument on my original battery pack and your 8 out of 10 argument appears to be more like 1 in 10, but hey, facts are just those thing to get in the way of a good argument so carry on. granted this is all from my perspective and real exprience.
