Yea you probably could but it’s a lot more time consuming and you have to do it right so you don’t leave clumps on the field. Plus it’s not bad the camera makes it seem way scarier than what it is. If it make you feel better we just got done with digging peanuts for the year so I won’t be doing it again anytime soon😅

Excellent video, with the exception of one thing. It appeared that the operator exited the cab multiple times, while the tractor was in operation and then even climbed on the digger while underway. From a safety perspective, this is an unforgivable mistake. Not only does it give the viewer the wrong impression, it could easily get the operator killed.

How does that digger work on odd rows or curving guess rows. Will it flip the plants green side up if you rerun rows?

It works fine on curved rows but it will always work the best if you follow the planter for instance 16 row planter-8row digger. 12 row planter-6row digger and so forth. But you can’t re dig something if you make a mistake it is what it is

I know there are different varieties of other crops like corn. Are there different varieties of peanuts? Like is there one type better for oil, another type for animal food, and one type for people consumption? Or are they all the same?
@gabrielalger97923 жыл бұрын
There are different varieties yes, but they can all be used for any task it really comes down to what size customers want, some do have higher oleic acid which helps them store for longer in a shelf and some are better for.boiling like a virgina peanut which is a large nut but there are probably over 60 peanut varieties if I had to guess, about 20-40 are the most common with being 06G then 12Y, tifguard nv, fl runner 331, 16HO, 09B, 297, and my personal favorite the AU-17

How deep are the knives cutting? Aren't there some peanuts left in the ground which are deeper in the ground? Why do you turn the peanuts over - Isn't the direct sunlight bad for the peanuts?
@conleybanman6 ай бұрын
We cut deep enough to get all the peanuts and the peanuts need to dry in the sun so they’re dry enough to sell
@chadsmith143 жыл бұрын
I try to keep the 6 row plows we run leaving about 3 inches of root down past or below the peanuts on the plant, I have never been told exactly how much root you are supposed to have on the plant, idk what or if kmc says but 3 inches seems to work good.
@conleybanman3 жыл бұрын
It usually just depends on the dirt you have and good of a job it’s doing. Personal preference I guess
@chadsmith143 жыл бұрын
@@conleybanman yea, everybody has their own ways about things, we had a little cold snap the other week and our last hundred or so acres the frost got and then we had lil over an inch of rain on them before we could get to them. W the plant prettymuch dying I guess from the little frost and the sandy dirt being wet I had to shallow it up to like an inch or inch and a half, way closer than I wanted because of the vines trying to lose a good amount of peanuts but w the plow set as I normally run w bout 3 inches of root it would pull the plant or all of the root up out of the ground w it and shell off a good bit of peanuts. Hope that's the last time I ever have to deal w that.
@conleybanman3 жыл бұрын
Man that’s terrible. Dealing with frost is always hard and difficult so I’m glad you were able to at least find a solution even though you might’ve lost some peanuts. I know of a few farmers in the area they also had a similar problem. Not fun 😬
@chadsmith143 жыл бұрын
@@conleybanman naw it sure ain't but mother nature is a very big part of what we do and she sure ain't predictable at all but we got it done, already taking steps to try and make sure our cotton and peanuts don't end up getting so jammed up togather and be late next year like what happened this year.

Dumb move leaving the cab of a moving tractor and walking on top and then there is when you jumped off onto the ground. Then getting back into the cab, your foot could get stuck in the plant material in front of this tires is a recipe for disaster. Farm accidents can be prevented. This is one of them.
@craigfaircloth3133 жыл бұрын
I work with Glenn Heard Farms in SW Georgia, we just priced a new 12 row Amadas it was a little under a 100 grand. We grow 5600 acres of peanuts on a little different row pattern but I like to follow Peanut Farmers and their practices. This is just my opinion but you have got to stop getting on and off your equipment while it is moving. It is a horrible example for the non farming community to see this and I promise you it is a disaster waiting to happen. Please be safe and keep farming.
