They're very smart birds and can be pretty dangerous if tampered with , they know if someone is a threat and will back away and defend themselves when necessary.

It's probably not a great idea to promote cockatoo ownership. They are the single most surrendered bird, known for their ear piercing shriek, unpredictable behavior and a powerful bite. Even the owners of Onni cockatoo on KZbin (who are incredibly devoted and conscientious owners) have encountered problems with their beloved friend being sometimes too dangerous to have out around the house. Hormones can sometimes change a birds personality, not matter how well trained they are. And it's with tears that the owners talk about their challenges, as they wanted so much to have a carefree and loving lifetime with the bird. I feel for them and other owners.

I am a proud owner of a cockatoo. Everything you said was exaggeration. Yes, birds get hormonal but with proper research and prevention it’s not as bad as you think and it’s no different than owning a dog or a cat. As far as screaming, you learn to ignore it overtime and communication helps prevent screaming because they do understand and memorize your routines, feelings, and actions and they are very easy to train more than you know. All they want is love and to be love accepted in a family (flock). Unless you own a cockatoo, you would know they’d make great pets with proper research.

Wonderful story but caffeine such as coffee increases heart rate, arrhythmias, hyperactivity and even cardiac arrest in birds. I know because I own a cockatoo as a pet.
