I like that you said that you don’t admit things because there’s no need to feel uncomfortable for how we do our art and what resources and skills we use. Also this painting is stunning and I love your narration. You’re my favorite KZbinr. I watch you more than any other

It really is his narration. I mean, I love his art and technique, but it's his words and support that really make me feel like I can do it too.

Varios types of "projection" have been in use for hundreds of years....
@rosamente2 жыл бұрын
You can trace a drawing onto a canvas with extreme detail, but if you don’t know how to paint, your work won’t look good. That’s what people don’t understand. It’s true that the likeness can be much better with a projector, but as you said, the objective is to make things flow as smooth as possible. Exercising your drawing skills to capture likeness is just one of the many sides of art making. Congratulations man, your paintings are so vibrant and elegant 🙌🏽

Yesss… so true! My students were stunned that artists use projectors. I tell them that if you want to make a living from selling your art, then use the tools available along with your creative problem solving and technical skill! Continue to practice drawing skills from observation because developing that eye to hand connection is incredibly important in many facets of art. I actually think the likeness in portraiture comes into play with all of the nuances that the projector does not help transfer, but instead the artist with a trained eye and technical ability is able to capture so methodically.

@@jldavis07 HUh? When I was in art school there were all sorts of projectors.... The work well if you don't wanna bother with a grid or have a large surface and want to get the proportions just right.... Sigh... Young People, Am I Right....

You’re one of my favourite artist. I love how vibrant and purposeful your paintings always turn out to be. They have the type of delicacy that I haven’t seen in any other persons work. I *love* round canvases. I just started painting a couple of years ago, and for whatever reason, I've gravitated toward round canvases from the start. I've done square and rectangular, but the vast majority -- especially those I've actually finished -- are round. Can't explain why, I just love them! Glad to see them getting some love here.

That would be amazing for all of us who are not able to travel right now to attend your show.
