A little exercise in what you can do when you throw some conventions out the window 😁!Much thanks to Blizzard and Overwatch 2 for the collaboration. This was my favorite project of the year!!! 🤩

Any tips for someone who is lightly color blind in the green yellow and red area? I never know what colors to use for skintones and i can't come up with a workaround.
@4chopchop2 жыл бұрын
@@C.S.M.Hageroth Hey, I know you wanna hear from him and not some stranger on the internet, but I thought I'd pitch in with something I heard him say once. He mentioned in a video (I can't recall for certain which one, but maybe the recent god of war one) that there's "no such thing as a skin tone". He explains that color isn't what makes skin look like skin, but rather the texture, translucency, etc. meaning that you can use whatever color you want and if approached with the right texture, it'll look like skin. So maybe one day, even if just as a fun one-off exercise, you could test out doing skin with "unnatural" colors that work for you while focusing on getting the texture right. I'm not certain if 'texture' is the most optimal word, but I hope it gets the message across. It's always more joyful to adapt a painting style to what naturally works for you, rather than forcing yourself to struggle with something just to fit in a conventional box. Hope that helps and happy painting!

@@4chopchop Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment. It is true what you say but this way I can never paint a portrait that doesn't look like the blue man group or some comic book figure oder black and white painting. But I guess I will stick to that then. Thank you. 😁
@4chopchop2 жыл бұрын
@@C.S.M.Hageroth You have a fair point. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. But maybe researching workarounds for this slight color blindness in areas that don't specifically have anything to do with art could broaden the amount of useful information you find. Then you could work on finding ways to translate that to your art, perhaps through some fun personal experimentation and a good amount of trial and error. I wish you all the best on your art journey.

@@4chopchop Thank you very much. 🙂 I think it will come down to know what colors to mix in what proportion to figure ist out with the help of somebody that can see them the right way. 😅

I think the amazing effect of digital images is that they are often backlit. You don't see color-correct images that are backlit in real life, and it is something we need to explore more.

I bet it looks even more breathtaking in real life. I could never capture the reflective nature of lighter pigments with camera when IRL it was just gorgeous and glowing

I think this is one of your best videos because it has everything in it: a story and your personality (your first oil painting), professional know-how, a delightful subject and theme from game design, good shots/cuts and a pleasant voice. One would assume an artist primarily sells their artistry itself, but that has become a byproduct here. You've simply done a lot right here - respect.

Awesome!! Your brush control is really stable. I have really shaky hands. I've been standing back more and using longer brushes. Also, I've always wondered how to paint gold, and you are absolutely right. The key is understanding all of the surrounding colors to the area that is giving off reflective light. Finally, I noticed that to achieve digital artwork besides the lighting, the paint wasn't overlapped. It's really clean and smooth and not overworked or too mixed. It's probably due to blocking and not mixing the color on the canvas. Thank you for the video, and well done!👌

Wish you would do a video on your current approach to determining your color palette - not so much the tubes of color, but more the colors you actually mix and apply and why you pick those. We know the colors that are in the tube matter as a starting point, but your color theory is very pleasing and would help aspiring artists with a deeper understanding of something there aren't many good videos on.

Why you ask YT viewers what to paint next when you've just produced another outstanding piece of art work? It's like asking a child what candy they want when they all look amazing. We love them all and the fact you talk through the insights and broader concepts. Creating light, and life like vibrance, is difficult. Keep up the explanations and we, the YT viewer, will love it.
