I never saw my dad doing that kind of work, and I always wondered what those tools were used for. My one major frustration was that Dad made a fabulous go-fer out of me, but because I was daughter instead of son, he wouldn’t teach me how to do the work. He kept telling me that I should marry someone who knew how. It never happened… Please teach your daughters as much as possible. Knowledge is never wasted.

I second the teach your girls! My husband is great at being Mr. Fix-It, but he works a 60-80 hour a week job. That leaves me to do all the traditional "man" farm jobs plus being mom, wife, homemaker, mother & teacher to our kids and myself. I've had to teach myself to run chainsaws and yard equipment, all the garden stuff, all the animal care, basic woodworking tools and skills, plumbing & electrical basics, putting up fences, building animal housing, vet care, etc. And knowing about and having the right tools is not only time saving, but can be life saving because it seems like bad weather or emergencies happen when my husband is at work. I may not be able to physically do the muscle stuff my husband can, but knowing how to use tools & tractors, pulleys, straps/chains and power tools is crucial, though the job takes me 2-3x longer than it would him. :-) Hubby was wondering why I was watching your concrete video. I looked him in the eye and said because you're not always here and sometimes I need to fix things. He laughed. It's so true. He can't wait till he can retire and be home.

Inherited one from my late father. I didn't remember him using it while building our off grid cabin in Montana (in 70s). Of all the items I acquired, this one baffled me. Thank you for the vid showing its usage.. and the memories of days gone past.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this. If you know the easiest way to use t post clips, I’d like to see how you do it in slow motion please. I’m about to move back to the old family land and I’m going to need some fencing ideas! Please and thank you

I know what you mean about letting those twisters rust away. In my day I've tied double mat steel for spillways and bridge all the down to basement walls and footers. Don't miss it at all. God bless.

Ha Justin, what a salesman you are. I too have tied a lot of reinforcing in my day too. Around here the ties get used quite a bit in the garden too. Our tomato cages get tied to fence T-posts and the ties are the easiest way to go. But sometimes the store bought 6 inch ties are just not long enough. So we took to cutting our own and bending a loop on the ends. Works a treat, thanks for the video and referring back to the good old times working with concrete.

I worked mostly in structural steel but I helped the concrete guys do this type of work many times and I always thought using coils of tie wire and pliers was kind of cumbersome and time consuming. The slick little tool could sure speed things up.
