Great to see apartments updated but not overdeveloped- they do actually look affordable. Nice simple rethinking of open spaces. There needs to be more of this approach to help minimize the housing crisis. The timeframe is also a positive factor. It also doesn’t change the look of the local area, but freshens it up. The coloured front doors were a nice touch.

Depends on your idea of affordable…

Love this. Often buildings built in the sixties make great use of internal space and light. Thank you Breathe for rescuing these buildings.

They feel more like traditional homes too with clearly sectioned-off areas for living, eating, etc. rather than all open plan

I would definitely consider this as a rental!

@1:56, I love the green. It's good to see a building that is still viable being updated rather than torn down.

This is awesome, exactly what I envision when I see older buildings that seem destined for the landfill!

Brilliant! Once again Breathe shows exactly how sustainable development can be done. Should be done. Here in the UK private rental dominates and local authority housing is pretty much nonexistent. And what is, is low quality and badly insulated. This development has " charm" and respect for its origins. The retro look and colour schemes are spot on. Again, a superb, future thinking development. Thank you.

I mean this is private rental still. The entire block has been bought and fixed up by a private developer who are now charging almost $600 a week for these glammed ex single bed motel rooms. I’m sure a lot of the young people renting in the area would much prefer to buy if they could…

For a building that is standing for more than 5 decades, this looks still stable and strong. 💯

Really great sustainability in terms of the rebuild, but I see wall vents and old windows, and I wonder how thermally efficient they are. (and acoustics?) Overall, love it.

Nice project. A little interesting to aim the heat pump head unit at the paper pendant light.

Good job saving the brick building. But Those old motel dining chairs look 1000x more comfortable than the new backless “designer” ones.

Can you tell me who the paintings are by. It’s a joy to see real art instead of furniture shop works and prints which are the usual decoration

It's nice that they revived a multi unit, but the windows still look like they are from the 70's. Strange to not upgrade the windows.

I agree retain the old buildings, instead of new poorly built new builds. But seriously tarting up old kitchens , bathrooms is tight. The brick work needs cleaning up and new windows. In time this will be a dump again. What about the guy in these videos does he only have one set of clothes?

What part of affordability, convenience, retrofitting, and unpretentiousness did you not understand? This is lovely work and a serious community service to boot. Don't be a Philistine. Re that snide aside about the place being a dump again eventually: per John Maynard Keynes, in the long run we are all dead.
