Some debt is good. The one time the US paid off its national debt, it pushed the US into a decade-long recession. The trick is that most of the US debt is owned not by foreign governments but by the US itself. However, a worrisome trend has started, as tons of investment groups have started buying up as much US debt as possible. A weak dollar helps with US exports while a strong dollar helps with US imports. When people talk about China becoming the reserve currency of the world I laugh as China purposely keeps its value low to help with exports and their currency isn't based on reality simply what their government believes it should be worth.

I'm astonished by how they try to sell you the idea that a weak dollar is better for us americans, there is literally almost no benefit to having a weaker currency other than "it makes our exports more competitive", however what good is it if everything else is going to cost more since we are a net import country, literally everything will cost more with a weaker dollar. Its quite normal to be a net import country especially in a developed economy like the U.S
@r88a4 ай бұрын
Also they make it seem that if U.S goods cost more because of a stronger dollar that immediately it will be detrimental to our manufacturing industry, however many of our exports are luxury goods or technologically advanced goods that are not incredibly price sensitive to the higher income foreign consumer. @wilsonmanch67734 ай бұрын
not exactly, weaker dollar will help export, increase more investment which create job, and create a better economy overall, more people working, more tax, more money for government, more money (GDP) in whole in the populations, but bad for individual economy. It has had an impact in the first years on exports and companies had to adapt their prices and cost structures. It depends on your trade balance, for importing it's great, for exports less and you then need to find new ways to stay competitive and maintain prices. @@dunnowy123 The problem is, Asia exports more than it buys to the US. You assume the US hasn't shipped out most of its manufacturing to Asia as well. Exports to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in 2023 = $1.2 trillion Imports from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in that same year = $2.0 trillion So the American consumer will hurt more, since you'd have to pay more to import those same goods. You can read it up online on the U.S.-APEC Trade Facts from the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President. The strength of the US was its ability to do what no other country could. Print infinite money and let other countries buy up the debt thanks to it being backed by oil. A weaker dollar, and no petro-dollar means the US can't just print infinite money and not risk crashing itself like so many countries that tried to do the same.

@@dunnowy123He’s saying no matter how weak the dollar gets, American exporters cannot compete with Asian exporters. You’re going to raise prices in the US for an export sector that cannot dominate like it did 70 years ago. American labor costs will always be higher. It’s kinda dumb policy when just considering the economic argument.
@dunnowy1234 ай бұрын
@@jacobjones630 You know what, you're right. US exports are usually "high value" goods or natural resources, undeniably, a weaker dollar isn't going to help those exporters because they aren't making the same things Asian exporters are. And it will hurt US consumers.

It doesn't matter if its strong or weak since everyone is moving away from it. Whoever has dollars is going to become poorer. Especially the foreigners mainly from Europe who are hoarding dollars like crazy.

In the previous videos, "economic is strong, like never before, and if you don't feel it, it's just your impression". What is next "inflation is good" (literally this one), "layoff is good for your health", "low salary is good for cholesterine level"? That was not like that before on this channel...

I don’t see how a weak dollar should benefit Americans traveling abroad 😂 but on a business side: For Export-First American companies with huge global foot print that’s great news, for Import-First companies (Home Depot, Costco…) not so much

I’m planning to live abroad with no job. A strong dollar with high interest makes it very beneficial for me because first of all the interest and dividend income I receive is much higher in the current environment then the exchange rate for my dollar is also favorable so I am able to easily pay my living expenses without a job!

Weaker dollars means more money printed aka higher debt. people nowadays are basically working for paper currency which is worthless in the end. This applies to other fiat currencies too.

With immigrants so unless the fair foreign rate of exchange so poor countries need not to migrate to the u.s. Then u.s. Can close borders and still live safely but unless that happen now is impossible to avoid import mostly recycle materials in most import create bad fengshui and polution and allergies could wipe out the u.s.
