It is not anyone's place to say who is telling the truth and who isn't!! Trauma manifests in different ways for different people. Someone can be laughing as a way to suppress anxiety and keep them from falling apart. Also police are clearly underestimating female leaders and protesters and their roles in getting people together which is why almost all of the people that were shot and killed were men so it would make sense that they treated the girl differently.

The behaviour of Kenyan police is like that of apartheid police in South Africa, how they treated peaceful protestors in South Africa, and ended shooting protestors in several cases starting in 1958, then in 1960 and in 1976. The behaviour reminds how the British colonialists treated people in Kenya during the liberation struggle when the Mau-Mau were fighting for the liberation of Kenya. This treatment of peaceful protesters by Kenyan police should does not have a place in a democratic country, and, people should take this government of William Ruto to court.

I'm sorry for your experience. Abduction can be a very traumatic event that can result in increased anxiety, having panic attacks, flashbacks of the experience of abduction and nightmares. People often feel a sense of danger that they haven't felt before and this might affect their behaviour, e.g. switching off the phone, avoiding certain places or withdrawing from people. Those experiences should become less distressing with time but if it persists longer than a month I would recommend speaking to a professional therapist/doctor.
