I remember back in the early 90’s how everything was super matte! Our faces were so pale and matte and powdery, with brownish lipstick and skinny eyebrows. I also remember that there was a “rule” that older women shouldn’t wear shimmer eyeshadow. Now I’m an older woman, but I love my shimmer shadow!

Ahh the '90s - the decade of my twenties. I like ColourPop's interpretation of the decade with this collection. Yes, it was fun to completely matte out my face and wear brown blush and lipstick when I was in college. But I think the best 'nostaligia' collections are the ones that put a fresh twist on whatever the collection is supposed to represent. In any case - Allie you look absolutely stunning in these colors! I think the pink blush was perfect. It enhanced the look rather than straight matching it.

Me too, I turned 21 in 1993. Watching young women on KZbin love the 90s is a hoot for me considering I didn't even know the 90s had a look until several years ago. Everything went brown based and we had that horrible grunge look in the early 90s. I still love the makeup looks from the decade. The clothes were much improved from the 80s. It was a pretty good decade I guess.

I was a teen. (Well, graduated '97) I never plucked my eyebrows, always had them waxed at Elizabeth Grady. So..thank goodness for that. A bold lip (I used to mix the shade "toast of new york" from Revlon, a beige-ish red/brick with every lipstick I used or just on its own, that was my lipstick) to create a custom lipstick lol with a more subdued everyday color (2 colors really) eyeshadow was the everyday look for me at least. Like, the 2 pans you still see today, sold from Clinique! They still have the only two duo eyeshadows I used to wear still available, now! I learned to do my makeup professionally at the Clinique makeup counter when I was about 14 and wore at least eyeliner going back to elementary school so I never did have an issue applying makeup and Clinique was the ONLY place I purchased makeup, other than eyeliner from the drug store. Man, I swear, listening to every reference for every shade you ran off, really brings me back. I think the 90s teen was mostly classy when glam and preppy when not...grunge was Not the norm actually, except the music, which was The best music of all decades. (80s a solid but so close second 😉) If you haven't lived your prime in the 90s you honestly haven't lived 🙌

I graduated in ‘92 & I definitely didn’t wear any muted colors. Back then we wore colors that matched our outfit. Foundations were mat, till your oily skin showed up, and none of the drugstore brands did. I went on to sell Mary Kay a few different times throughout the decade. Again our eyeshadow matched what we were wearing. I had a small quad of cool colors aka blues and a quad of warm colors aka brown. I did my makeup every single day I went to work, the grocery store, etc. In ‘99 we bought a house and the living room was mauve & forest green!!

I'm about the same age as you but I don't remember matching my eyeshadow to my clothes. But I only had a couple of covergirl five pan shadows, and I wore those same colors cool colors every day in college. It wasn't popular to spend a lot of money on makeup back then and drugstore makeup was all my friends and I had. We didn't have a dozen eyeshadow palettes and only one or two mascaras, maybe a few lips gloss/lipsticks, and one foundation. Maybe the girls who had more money were into buying a lot of makeup, but I don't remember any of my friends having much more than I did. Oh and I didn't tweezers my eyebrows ever, like a lot of girls did.

I sold Mary Kay too! When this collection came out, I was hoping for a lipstick that would dupe Toffee by Mary Kay. When I think of 90's lipstick, I remember how I loved that shade. And Avon had Twig, which was good too.

I graduated in 95. No one really did dark lipliner with lighter lipstick, that was not actually a thing. It was grayish nudes, burgundies, and brown shades, not ombre. We did not use shiny eyeshadow ever, mostly nude toupes and lots of black eyeliner. Plucked, Drew Berrymore eyebrows were most definatly a thing. Thank goodness most of mine grew back. Shimmering body powder was something I coveted as a teen, I was obsessed. Overall, this collection does a really good job catching the vibe. It's beautiful. I took my kid to their first collage trip today, it made me giggle how many girls looked like they raided my teenage closet. I love it.

Ah yes. The decade of my high school years. I always did a burgundy lip and smokey charcoal and silver eye. Matte skin all the way. My eyebrows have never recovered from the super skinny brow look.

It's a gorgeous palette, but a true '90's look was shades and tints of brown, gray, and other neutrals. We never touched pinks or mauves! Do any of you out there remember the line Ultima II? They came out with the new Neutrals and launched the trend! I loved the neutral matte shades and obsessively collected all the eyeshadows and lip colors! It was also the decade of the iconic pairing of MAC Spice lip liner and Twiggy (now Twig) lipstick.

Ultima 2, yes!! I don't ever remember such thing as quality eyeshadows though. I always ended up just wearing eyeliner and lipstick.

I think the first lip look that was a balance to the eye colors you used was the most like a 90’s look, at least based on what I wore. Grunge looks were popular, and I’m really glad you didn’t go there. I’m also glad you didn’t go for a heavy and obvious brown lip liner (often a brow product) with a frosty or glittery light lip color. I love what you did with your eyes-stunning on you.

The lip was most definitely not too bold for the eyes, if anything it could have gone deeper but I know KZbinrs are allergic to bold lips so I have resigned on trying the bold colours by myself so it's whatever. Love the eyeshadow look, your work is amazing as always.

I really wanted to see that deep, dark burgundy lipstick. My 90’s go-to was Blackberry by Revlon. It was gorgeous. They changed the formula when that look went out of style and I don’t know if they still have it but I’m definitely ready to reprise my high school look. I also used a brown eyeliner on my lips with L’Oréal lipstick in Bronze Coin a lot. That’s was a beautiful look, just be sure to blend out that liner so you don’t look like a Chola. Unless that’s your jam, then have at it! 🤍

Not to sound negative but you made this an everyday look when you went to all your comfort zone colors. If you went to maybe some more of the darker and more bold colors then it would have been a different story. I would have loved to see you try the cranberries in the pallete instead of kind of sticking to the taupe. Just mg opinion I guess.

I loved our makeup I did a Smokey eye or a maroon lip. I also used this nail polish by revlon called dark cocoa something. I never did heavy eyes in the 90s kept it simple like eyeliner lashes etc. I used one shadow to smoke
