Tyler, never had the chance to hear it before with the attention it deserved. Happily I just did and I'm so proud to be called your "brother". Not only the way you said it, but knowing you live your life exactly like that is always an inspiration. Great job man!

I am pleasantly inspired by what Tyler had said about adventure makes you smarter, stronger and attractive. I have made up my mind that I am going for a bag pack to asia for 6 months next year after I finish my 2nd term. Thank you Tyler for such great speech! George

Great lecture. By the way, last week Shackelton's vessel was discovered. Images of her at the bottom of the sea were broadcast by television news around the world, as well as a brief summary of this extraordinary adventure.

I'd like to get the source for the stat you mentioned about people dying unhappy and with regret because they are not living authentically. I searched but could not find it; could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
@TylerTervooren10 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy. There is not just one source for that info. I took the death rate in the U.S. as reported by the CDC, the happiness index as reported by Harris Interactive, and the #1 regret from the book, "Top 5 Regrets of The Dying." That's where the figures I stated in the talk come from.

Why can't he just not be corrupt and not ask for bribes to get money from someone already on his way to a destination. That's honestly the question you were asking?
@shrimpysquad58215 жыл бұрын
What did I take as a gold nugget here again? Was it about how you explain, by way of the "wall example" that we become smarter by adventure? Or was it that we become stronger by way of a problem being an "eh, could be worse" one. Ah yes, I remember, now. It is the philosophy that you do not care so much what people think at the expense of doing what's important to you. You just don't do that. Thank you.
@shrimpysquad58215 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes, and what I learned about the building and bringing about of a team that you mentioned by the explorer of the South Pole. A tip that I've finally found as being directly useful, relevant, and applicable to me and my set up of life where it is a career goal for me to make it to a spot on the College team and to start in a game at the JUCO College level. Selling myself long on interest, dreaming, uniqueness, this kind of goal setting that sets you apart as you mentioned, and so on and so forth. I also like how you talked about how what once is new and scary that you once had to go through, but were maybe forced, then became old and routine after some expansion and taking of courage. Then, the way you described how every time you step forward out of your comfort zone, I could just imagine the circle moving with it as you go and the outer edges always being another place to step and turn into your comfort zone. Thank you for all this as well.

It's a good presentation but running a marathon on every continent and having a penchant for travelling makes you an incredible adventurer? What? I don't buy that. It just means you have the funds to travel to 7 continents. Many, many people would be delighted to do that. I've run 8 marathons in numerous countries, all under 3 hours (that is the hard part). It doesn't make me anything special. I'm not aware that Tyler has any qualifications in either risk or psychology either? I don't see how he can legitimately position himself as either a world-beating adventurer or an expert in risk.
