Sleep is an active process your body is repairing and working hard. Alcohol is a sedative it's stops lots of these processes. Lots of drink knocks you out, so even after 10 hours 'sleep' you don't feel rested.

And the respiratory rate goes up by 1-2. My baseline is 14.3 and after a night of drinking it’s at 15.5-16.5.
