i love people taking risks with concepts like this so there's working evidence of how efficient it is to fit into our daily lives

And why not just use the photovoltaic rock When you can dig solar panels out of the ground like potatoes but they wont tell you that 😄

No power station? I’d like to see practical techniques for oil extraction inside the loop. This sounds practical enough but I don’t find my prototype which makes me wonder about the yield.

How much electricity does the gas burning produce? Because if this is an experiment, it must be directly compared to the same surface of solar panels. I suspect this algae energy powerhouse is not as effective, as it does require more steps to convert energy and is much more complicated than regular solar panels.

Hi Idarusskie, in a rural area that might be a good idea. In the city? I'm not so sure. But certainly, this is not the only way to close the cycle - there are many possibilites. I hope all will be explored! Feed your ideas to companies like Colt - perhaps they use them! Gabriele

Hi Mohammend, I'm sorry, but I don't have those details. I have nothing to do with building or maintaining this house. But I am sure you can get the info from the responsibel company (german website colt-info ) Good luck with your inquiries! Gabriele

How is attachment of algae/biofilm to windows/system prevented? Yes the turbulence caused by aeration prevents clogging and "stirring" the substrate, but is internal cleaning not needed? Or is is prevented some how?

+Simon Granath "The algae are fed liquid nutrients and carbon dioxide to spur growth. Pressurized air is pumped into the panels to further increase growth and prevent the micro-organisms from settling down and causing rot, said Mr. Wurm. He notes that scrubbers in the panels automatically keep the glass clean. The panels double as solar thermal collectors to convert sunlight into usable energy."

Better would be to run on compressed air using an air and water displacement generator With turbine static generation Put algae in the tank make biofuel but it's better for cooking than running a building on Using compressed air you can power everything without combustion Could get all those tanks Or just get your biogas from sewers and composting bins For cookers and boilers Not running 24/7 like I imagine this system is designed to do Get energy from thin air It's less maintenance Especially if you need continuous energy output

Yes, if your singular goal is to produce electricity. However, there are several reasons why that's not relevant here - a notable one being carbon dioxide sequestration from the air.

Solar panels only last 20 odd years the algae can last indefinitely.
@burmanhands

This looks great, but look how technical intensive it is. The panels consume vast amounts of electricity in their manufacturing and installation - expensive architecture. Many complex processes are then needed to get electricity. This may have some political agenda value, but in the real world you use a BMW sports car to heat water. Direct electricity from the sun makes sense once the battery issues are improved, or maybe nuclear fusion in small reactors. I am an architect but not a scientist but there are better ways than this.
