@@Brandon-nk1fe Ik mag toch hopen dat de gemiddelde nederlander op zijn minst de continenten aan kan wijzen. Ik schrik soms ook wel aan het extreme gebrek aan kennis van basis topografie (ook soms bij mijzelf). Gelukkig zijn er tegenwoordig apps om dat aan te scherpen.

3:56 - Maybe this is counting the Dutch way (although I don't believe it as Josefa is too much Americanized): in Gemany we start counting using the thumb at first (1), followed by the forefinger for 2 and the middle finger for 3.

well it was actually or the Carribbean was so back in 1521 did they know about the mainland however what David does have wrong is the "500 years" probably typical American saying for something that has existed a long time. Even in 1776 there were still only 13 colonies the rest became states of the union at varying times since then so the question is are those 13 colonies still colonies ?

Ik denk niet dat je ooit op school geleerd hebt dat er 52 Staten zijn (het zou wel moeten zijn als je Porto Rico en Washington DC zou meerekenen). Er is ook geen enkele reden die Staten allemaal te leren kennen. In de meeste woont helemaal niemand. Europa heeft al geschiedenis genoeg op zichzelf.

De vraag ging immers over Staten, niet territorium. Ander waren het er veel meer. Zie al veel DC en Puerto Rico, maar Samoa, Virgin Islands, Guam en eilandjes in de Grote Oceaan (o.a. Midway) zijn ook allemaal territorium van de USA
