My husband is swedish -dutch born and raised in amsterdam, he’s almost 50 and still makes the volcano when eating stamppot 😉 I guess appelmoes met friet is also very dutch isn’t it?

I do the vulcano thing too, it makes the potatoes drenched in gravy. If you just pour it over, the gravy will go anywhere except on the potatoes. (And your gravy will be cold and solid if your plate is still cold) If you dig a hole first, the potatoes suck up all the gravy.

Yep vulcano, I still make it. With the gravy of the backed bacon you make the vulcano erupt because the gravy makes noise and really spatters up, so it kinda looks like a erupting vulcano. 😊🌋

If I do cook Dutch food (very rarely as Indonesian food is awesome!), I still put the gravy in the 'vulcano' it just taste better!
