I love how calming the colour combination is, and it doesn’t feel messy despite the different levels and intricate spaces. The materials feel premium but also homey, not cold.

By far this is one of my favorite projects I've seen on this channel. It's more than a house or art gallery, it's a warm and inviting home

The design of Wisteria is truly captivating! Carter Williamson Architects have beautifully blended heritage charm with modern elements, creating a warm and inviting family home. The seamless integration of white and timber materials, along with the clever use of light wells, really brings the space to life. The connection to the Jacaranda tree and the thoughtful choice of Dulux paints make this home a stunning example of how to honor the past while embracing contemporary design. Can’t wait to see the full tour!

It's lovely, and I like how they combined the front original bungalow facade with the complete modern surprise inside....but I'm not visionary enough to really grasp all the twists and turns. I'd love to see a one-dimensional floor plan.

This is something rather special. Again another " real house". Indeed a home. As below the extension may take up a lot of the overall plot. However the end result is worth it. Calm, serene and spacious. Great use of natural materials too. Thank you for sharing.

Oh dear. Yet another example of a massive, very modern extension imposed at the rear of a federation house. Thereby almost filling the block, leaving precious little outside space. We now see this happening on every street where everybody builds right to their boundaries turning these formerly airy suburbs into one conjugated urban sprawl.
@cokemango
@cokemango 4 ай бұрын
While the trend of modern extensions can indeed alter the character of suburbs, do you think it's possible to balance contemporary design and outdoor space preservation through innovative architectural solutions? How might we address the need for modern living spaces while maintaining the suburban charm and airiness?
@CG-99
@CG-99 4 ай бұрын
@cokemango yes, I am sure it is possible to find a better balance. But the main problem is people are somehow permitted under current planning rules and they almost always implement the most massive extensions possible, that dwarf the original part of the property and almost fill the block. Driven by people pursue the aim of creating max possible living space to give themselves the biggest possible value uplift in thr house price obsessed Australia. IMO the planning authorities need to be much more assertive and impose lower limits on how much of each block can be built on.

The addition looks stunning but is unfortunately too remote, design wise, from the original Federation Home. Too bad, the resulting effect is that there is a stark contrast between the old and new builds. The two structures are miles apart from each other and do not at all complement. Architects and planners should be challenged on how they can "extend" the Federation Home whilst addressing modern comforts.
