I'm guessing but I think your belt is either too short or too long. Take the belt and carefully twist it while it's on the pullies. 1) If it twists more than half way (possibly completely over so that you can easily see the ribs) your belt is too loose. 2) If it only twists about 1/4 of the way over, it's a perfect fit. 3) If it's really hard to twist to the 1/4 way over, then your belt is probably too tight, too short. Hope this helps. Good luck.

@@devrynrick1530 One of your pullies is siezing up and not turning as it should, or your belt is too short. That's my guess.

I just bought a mechman alternator which has a smaller pulley, so I had to buy a smaller belt my belt barely went on. I am wondering if the tensioner is too tight and will it hurts anything.

Can a tensioner go bad for chenging the belt so often( about 3 times in 2 months)? I have to replace an alternator I fix a leaking in the VTEC I replace the serpentine belt now my mechanic is telling me every time we tensión it goes bad and now needs to be replaced? Is that true.?
@FlatRateMechanic5 жыл бұрын
Sound a bit strange to me. There must be some kind of underlying problem or something not being disclosed. You should be able to remove and install a belt an unlimited amount of time without causing any damage to the tensioner unless the mechanic is doing something wrong and or forcing things. But very had to say with out inspecting the items. But not the tensioner should not be damaged no matter how many times you have to remove the belt unless it was damaged prior.

Got to change mine today. Making my belt vibrate.. sounds like it was my exhaust vibrating took it to a shop said it was my tensioner making everything vibrate.

@@GetRealBaby what is the correct size?
@GetRealBaby9 ай бұрын
@@dtaylor224 If you call your local auto parts store such as AutoZone, Advance Auto or O-Reilly Auto Parts and give them your vehicle's VIN, they can tell you the exact part you need. Ask what size belt you need. And then I would call another parts store, give them your VIN, and compare the sizes you're quoted. If these quotes aren't the same size, you should call the dealership and ask their parts' department the same questions you asked the parts stores. When you get two quotes the same, that should be the belt you go with.

@@dtaylor224 Jot down your VIN and call the dealership parts department and ask what size. Then call the place where you bought the belt, ask for the size of the belt you bought, and check to see if both sizes match. I'm guessing they won't.

What? A tensioner works just as this video explains...it puts tension on the belt.
