Man, danny alone made me root for EG that season. I was so excited for him to come in; it felt like the first rookie that had come along that could become *better* than doublelift with time and actually might have a decent showing internationally. As an adc main, it was super exciting to see a new prospect with such potential and that much talent that early in his career. He also just seemed like such a nice dude. I'm honestly still bummed about it, both for him and the fans.

As a former teacher and subsequent SPED educator, this could have been avoided if they just drop 4k and hire a specialist care giver for SPED children. Danny doesn't just have autism, he has Asperger's, you can't hold them in the same light as normal people. Something like having the same meal every day might seem like a temper tantrum to normal people, but it's just the way their brain is wired. If the org already know his pre-existing condition, it should be known what would happen if they don't draft up a consistent routine just for him specifically. Everything else afterwards is straight up lethargy from handling a SPED kid so EG start mistreating him because they know he's easy to pushover. Idk the laws in US, but if this happened in Germany, the government and outside organizations would have went after EG hard.

I would say that while EG takes the brunt of the blame for Danny being forced into an early retirement... it would be unfair to say that they are sole people responsible for this outcome.... The fact that he had autism and even in the extreme case as well meant that even if he was properly accomodated for his entire tenure on EG, he would have eventually faltered... wanna know why? Because competitive League of Legends is super stressful... and on MSI we clearly saw him bomb when they went on a giga loss streak vs G2... The fact of the matter is that his family should have had more involvement on the daily business side of things and the moment things started to deteriorate which was a long stretch , they should have stepped in and forced him to go home and not after he was clearly completely burned out.... it's like watching a guy bleed to death and only stepping in when the bloodloss has reached lethal range. Clearly Danny was not in position to make decisions for his own well being.. Edit: It's also really weird for me to hear in the video that his parents only had communication with the executives... What the hell is that? North Korean camp detainment? Surely they must have had at least weekly talks with him... so idk it just feels like a case of greed or mass incompetence/negligence from all sides.

So my take is going forward teams will no longer take on people with mental disabilities to prevent any of this from happening in the future. It's a business, you get paid to play a video game and if you're the star of the team they expect you to put in the hours to stay that way and encourage the others to do the same. Should they have had people to help him? Yes, however that's more $ so I can understand the business (org) in this point as well. There is a reason you don't see any mental disability players in pro league of legends in LCK LPL LEC and as far as im aware LCS (major regions). It's business they don't want to pay extra when they're already paying players absurd amounts of money to begin with to play a game. EDIT: I know this sounds really harsh, I liked Danny he could of been the best ADC NA has ever seen if he kept playing but the reality is "Real World" Business will always win.

Autism is a permanent thing, it changes how people think, with things in place it's more easy to manage and theyre less likely to burn out.

If you got coldfeet every time you're on stage it's not the orgs fault. Some players just don't have the mentality to play in front of a stage and that's ok but we should stop pretending every org is like tsm and every owner like Reggie.

He was scouted so early the LCS had to actually step in and force competitive teams to wait to field him in pro play. He sent his teams to the literal highest level tournament this game has to offer at an age where most people are learning algebra. What else do you think he should be called?

This doesn't sound like EG's fault at all lol. It sounds like Danny is a mental breakdown waiting to happen, regardless of how comfortable he was. He couldnt take the pressure, period. Id love to see someoneike him on an actual athletic sports team. He wouldnt even make it on my highschool wrestling team if he couldnt handle this type of training.

You're delusional and compassionless. The issue wasn't actually that he couldn't handle the pressure to perform, he had the skills, ability, and desire to perform and he showed it repeatedly. The real issue was that the team stopped doing anything to accommodate him in any way and quit caring about their player when he got the MSI result and then began outright mistreating him. Upper management actively and willfully worsened his mental state and then people like you draw the conclusion that he just couldn't handle it and that he was a 'mental breakdown in waiting' when in fact he could handle it if the organization just gave him a little bit like they did at the beginning. They didn't hold up their end of the bargain and they robbed the LCS of one of its best players.

Also baseball pitcher, Cy Young winner, and world series champion Zach Greinke is a perfect example of someone like him on an actual athletic sports team. He's excellent and you should read about him, he's definitely on the spectrum.
