The Montreal Canadiens have won 24 Stanley Cups since their founding in 1909. They’ve gone on to become one of the most successful sports teams, not just in the NHL, but in professional sports. On April 3 1930, The Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins winning their third Stanley Cup and in doing so shocked the hockey world. We'll also look at the players who were part of one of many Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup wins, as well as some interesting oddities involving Stanley Cup engraving mistakes.

The Islanders' 19 straight playoff series wins. To do that you have to win 4 Cups in a row - and get back to the Finals in the 5th year as well. Can that be repeated in what is now a cap league? I doubt it.

Great Job ASH! Not sure if you have done one on the 93 Canadiens, another year where they defied the odds, but that would be an interesting video, especially with 10 consecutive OT victories in the playoffs. Keep up the great work!

Thank you!! Yeah that's a great suggestion, it was also the last appearance for Wayne Gretzky in a Stanley Cup and the last time a Canadian team has won the Cup so that would be a great video :)

@@AllSportsHistory very true but one that he would like a do over. After game 1 Carbo asked Jacques to cover the Great One and completely shut him down for the remaining 4 games. Being the last Canadian team to hoist the Cup brought me a lot of pride in the first 10 years, but much like a wedding anniversary, the joy wanes with every passing year except for the major milestones (20th, 25th etc). Hockey God(s) forbid that we reach 30 or 40 and we definitely don't want to reach the heralded(?) status of Toronto. They have the HHOF there, so no need to bring another Cup to that city, as fans can see Lord Stanley any time they want (when it reopens).

@@ross9117 haha yeah I feel like I know what you mean. I grew up a Dodgers fan in baseball, and they haven't won since 1988. They've gotten close recently, but every year that goes by without a championship the fear of becoming the next Cubs or Red Sox (or in hockey terms the Leafs as you mentioned) with famously long droughts starts to creep in.

@@AllSportsHistory All Sports History Oh man, I feel your pain. You must have been pissed when the story came out about the Astro's sign stealing. The Dodgers have spent a boatload of money lately, so it must have been disappointing to not see your team bring home the big prize. However, your team is a lot closer to a Championship than mine. If they play 2020, the Dodgers are loaded (offensively). A potential outfield of Bellinger (Top 5 in mlb), Betts (also Top 5) and Joc (30+ HRs?) with Muncy and Turner on the corners. Wow! If Treinen or Price can replace Ryu with Jansen returning to a more dominant form, your team should be the favourites. The 1988 Dodgers would definitely qualify for an Against All Odds Video. Aside from Cy winner Hershiser and NL MVP Gibson, they didn't have a lot of talent, especially after trading Pedro mid-season, but to beat the Mets in 7 and the heavily favoured A's with the 'Juice' Brothers in 5 was a hell of a run! If Kershaw can come close to replicating Orel's dominance and clutchness (?), along with one (or more) of aforementioned hitters performing in the moment like a one-legged Gibby, you might just see a parade this fall in the City of Angels. ​@@ross9117 Oh yeah, getting to a game 7 against the Astros knowing they cheated to get there definitely stung. Now, it looks like the Red Sox may have also cheated in 2018 too, so its a double whammy. Honestly, I think MLB should vacate 2017 and 18 World Series titles (if they cheated). The 88' team would for sure be a great video to do! They definitely had no business beating the Mets or the A's that year haha. I'll have to add that to my list.
