Also, congrats on reaching the 100K subscriber mark - I can tell that you do a tremendous amount of research for your vids and your success is well-deserved.

Great video!!! I went all in on my hair last night - it was LONG overdue. I’m sort of following the curly girl method so I don’t wash my hair more than twice a week. I got out my tea tree oil, scalp massager, ACV, and a hair mask loaded with protein. I took the time to actually work on my scalp and my hair looks amazing today.

Hi I’m new to your channel but I already learned alot! I like the fact that you are so real and honest when showing the proces of what you are talking about like in or after showering/showing pictures without the perfectly done make-up look.. Most tutorials on here the girls obviously wear it pretending they are all “natural”. 🙄 So please continue to do so it’s very refreshing! Btw you still look gorgeous without 😘

The Living Proof Dry Scalp Treatment that you have listed in your description box does WONDERS for a dry/flakey scalp that isn't caused by dandruff. I put the treatment all over my scalp about once a week (maybe twice) after I wash my hair, rub it in with my fingers, add all of my other hair products, blow dry or air dry my hair, and then use that exact same scalp massager as the final touch. My head feels amazing afterwards. HIGHLY recommend that treatment and scalp massager. I also just ordered the full Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate line due to your recommendation and I cannot wait to try it!

Abbey, this is not on this topic but I want to thank you for your rice water suggestion. I did it recently and my hair was magnificent immediately after and I’m super excited to keep doing it. Hi! I'm over 50 and have suffered from an itchy, flaky dermatitis scalp for over 30+ years. I have very thick wavy hair and tend to get a lot of build up. I recently used a baking soda rinse and then a charcoal detox shampoo and it helped my scalp feel better and so clean. I highly recommend it.

I may have already mentioned this. If I have I apologize. Anyhow, not keeping your scalp clean can cause a fungal infection. My dermatologist has seen an increase in patients with fungal infections from not washing often enough. Fungal infections cause hair loss. Hair flakes are not always dandruff/ dry scalp it’s most likely a fungal infection. Fungal infections are difficult to get rid. Thank you for your awesome videos !❤️❤️❤️👑👑👑

some people struggle with getting rid of a fungal infection - people with diabetes, lupus, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. :) Also, if the fungal infection has been there for while, Rx can take a while to get rid of it. Another issue is people want to stop taking meds within a few days of feeling better, and you can’t do that if you’re try to get rid of fungus.

Thats not alopecia. Your hair isnt growing either because of split ends or severe damage/breakage so you aren’t retaining length. Or it has something to do with the hair cycles and your hair is not in the growth phase.

Hi Abbey I get eczema (atopic dermatitis) on my scalp causing itchiness and extreme dryness. Switching to a fragrance free shampoo made a big difference, as did going sulphate free. I have dry, course textured, long, curly hair - so sulphate free is fine for my hair too. I also use a scalp scrub i make myself - normal table sugar mixed into fragrance free conditioner to make a paste. The sugar dissolves and washes out easily, whilst still hydrating/moisturising the scalp. it's a lot cheaper than the scalp scrubs on the market and I find it works well for me. I exfoliate prior to shampooing and any residue is cleaned away. It may be a cheap and easy way for others to try a scalp exfoliant, as it is quite gentle. I do this once every two weeks approx. I also use a leave in scalp tonic through the week at night to hydrate/moisturise the scalp, but for eczema recommend finding a fragrance free option eg Eucerin. Best wishes.

You can even take Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the “mother”(3-6Tbsp depending on length and thickness of hair) with water (2-4cups), and tea tree, lavender and peppermint oils (10 drops ea or more/less based on personal preference) and use it as a rinse after shampooing, no need to condition afterward unless you want to (leave in for 10-15 minutes). Not only will this restore the scalps pH to relatively normal level, but this is great for dandruff, it also leaves the hair INCREDIBLY soft and shiny and is SUPER CHEAP!

Oils can be moisturizing not necessarily hydrating, a dry oil is best to permeate hair strands due to its structure for instance jojoba does but it's heavy for my fine hair. I use a humidifier in my front room because the heater on constantly it helps with dry eye syndrome, but it's a finite water (steam) not hot that comes out I feel it helps with when I feel my face tight and dry is it good for hair? I think a bit of humidity is better than dry air inside and out I don't run it all day or night. I have Hashimotos thyroiditis dry hair eyes and mouth are Sx of Sjogren's disease which may not show up as a + on labs you can still have Sxs. Abbey, addressing scalp conditions is great, I do think adding in some information about autoimmune disease and how it can impact hair woukd be wise, even if you are not suffering you may gain even more followers, hormones as well, if you learn about these types of things people in their 20s 30s + have hormone irregularities I am just making a suggestion as someone who likes your channel even though I am 54 with those conditions and gray and faded black oxidized hair, the black dye has red and orange pigments when it fades from a level 3 brown over time it can get very orange, just something that happened in the underneath hair but not the crown ? Crazy, it's the newest hair I suppose. Thanks for listening and I hope you will ponder my suggestion you are a smart young woman!

If you tried 'Scalp Sensitive' products and still get itchy scalp, try Shu Uemura's Cleansing Oil Shampoo (the yellow one). I don't know what kind of magic is in there, but it is the only thing that at least somewhat calmed the itchiness and did not irritate at all.

The issue I run into with infrequent hair washing or use of co-wash instead of cleanser is that my hair follicles actually start to hurt after a few days of oil buildup. I don’t totally understand the mechanisms of this but I think oily buildup causes free radicals, causing inflammation at the follicle. I’m sure my somewhat hard water contributes to this since buildup probably doesn’t wash out as well. But I notice it happens faster during dryer winter months whereas I can go more days before the follicles start to hurt during the summer. Using a salicylic acid scalp treatment and apple cider vinegar washes have helped a bit but it’s so annoying! I don’t know why but the dpHue one really doesn’t work for me. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever put in my hair. I tried to use it like five times, shampooing after and making sure I rinsed very well but it just seems like it refuses to rinse out of my hair and leaves this awful residue that takes forever to get out! What am I doing wrong?!? I do like the R+Co Acid Wash, it suds a bit so it washes out easier.

Have you tried a castor oil scalp treatment? Incredibly soothing and nourishing. Just mix with a carrier oil, like olive or coconut since castor oil is so thick. Amazing for lashes too. Love your channel! I’m now hooked on the Vanicream Daily Face Cream thanks to your recommendation. Fantastic product, thank you! 🥰

I’d like to know how long it takes you to shower with the shampoo routine and stuff. Because I only get 20ish minutes of warm water from my shower…. My hair is basically as long as yours and it takes me 10 mins to wash my hair as it is. So I only have 10 mins to wash my body, face and brush my teeth( yes I wash my face in the shower.)

My problem is that in trying to become a once a week washer I seem to have developed seborrheic dermatitis!! I find that my excessive oiliness would lead me to compensate with dry shampoo and that is what causes a build up, irritation and flakiness. Your video could not have came at a better time!! Any recommendations for less irritating dry shampoo options?? I currently use Klorane tinted which I thought was better than Batiste due to less fragrance but after some time, same problem.

I tried many dry shampoos including all-natural versions that relied on tapioca starch, kaolin clay, etc., but eventually I had to just stop using dry shampoo. A few times over the last 2 years, I would be in a hurry somewhere and impulsively use dry shampoo again and my problems returned immediately. I loved the way it made my hair look - dry shampoo blended the dark regrowth and gave me so much volume, but I eventually gave up and sold all of the products as a bundle on Poshmark. It wasn’t worth the itchiness, scalp acne and hair loss/breakage at the root, especially near my temples.
