@@ThomasonCG It happened with Illumina and Benex back in 1.14. Both of them completed world record runs within 3 seconds of each other (Benex first and then Illumina). The Benex run probably would've been the shortest lived WR ever but Illumina's in-game time was found to be higher when re-timed so record eventually went to Benex.

The craziest thing about his run is that, even with optimization, the seed would only be around a 9-10 minute run. That means TLM was nearly perfectly optimized on a RSG.

The problem i have with evaluating optimization comparisons is what is seen as playing the seed optimally? Knowing the seed, so knowing where all the things are (chests, lava, bastion, fortress, stronghold etc.) and then optimizing with the known data sure could improve the time by propably over 3 minutes. But from the way he played the seed with the information he had at each individual moment, i think there was only around a minute he could have shoved away with perfect mechincal and strategic execution.

I would differentiate between time that is possible with the particular seed having all the information, and time just playing the seed better on a microlevel, like perfect mechanical play, perfect strategic micro decisions etc. The latter improvement is signifcantly lower. As you stated initially, for an RSG run that was near pretty darn close to flawless execution.
