Claus Dalby - English

Claus Dalby - English

3 жыл бұрын

Here I’m talking about our hedges - yew (Taxus) and beech (Fagus sylvatica). They are such an important part of my garden because the hedges divide the ground in smaller rooms.
My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured on many TV shows. In March 2022 my first book in English will be available. I consider my home (built in1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood, as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel. Decor and creating moods have always interested me - both outside and inside - and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

Every video you upload underscores for me the idea that gardening is an expression of creativity. The trimming of the hedges shows an artist with complete command of his equipment. I appreciate the respect you have for your garden.

Love the shaping of the top of the hedges with the little curve upward leading to the next level. Your hedges are perfection! Your worker is especially skilled at keeping everything flat without any dips or tapering. I personally find that difficult to do.

We had very old Yew at our old house, and cutting it was never so easy to reach with an ordinary cutter. This year my Buxux shrubs are overgrown because the weather was too hot, now very wet; I'm rather anxious in case they grow too big. Your hedge are exquisite Claus.

I absolutely understand the importance of clearly defined hedges in a garden like yours considering the size and planting. I agree with the person who commented that it was soothing to watch Preben cut the hedges. Almost meditative 😃 Now I will go down in my own garden where my hedge is hairy and full of wild clematises and roses 😄 I will not have it cut till August when all the birds are gone.
