You're the first person in my life to address pectineus isolation. So often, PTs lump movement patterns together without acknowledging the importance of every working part. It's like if a CEO just lumped all the employees together as long as they get the job done, not noticing that 1 of his employees is actually dead. Thank you so much for attention to detail in all of your videos.

Instant temporary relief to 20 years of skateboarding-induced groin pain. Even that is such a blessing. I hope this will translate over the long term. Thanks mate. Fantastic stuff!

@@Emmanuelx13 My hip would lock up. Stabbing pain/stiffness in upper thigh. Exercise aggregates it. Stretching and mobility only temporarily relieves it or makes it worse. Sore to lift the thigh. Physiotherapist told me my pectineus was constantly ‘on’ chronically tight, and trying to do the work for the larger adductors. However, I have a herniated disc so it sends bogus pain signals to my hip and back even if I haven’t injured myself, so probably neurological. One thing my physio recommended was a product called a ‘Jacknobber’. Rediculous name- but it’s helped a lot. It’s a trigger point therapy tool. Because I can’t reach the muscle with a ball I use the jacknobber to put pressure on the muscle which relieves a lot of tightness. Hope that helps you somewhat.👍🏻

@@Chris_Traynor hell yeah thanks! This helps not only me but others in the comments checking for this! I have the same problem with my hip hurting but it only happens when i sit down, drive or even. Lay down to sleep sadly. My whole upper leg starts to hurt as well, even my hamstring and the side leg going down to my knee. My knee starts to hurt to sometimes. However, you said you had a herniated disc, For me I have a strained oblique muscle. So that makes my side , hip, abductors, and upper leg hurt as well.

Yes! This is exactly where my pain is and this exercise helps. I have osteoarthritis in my hips, but family history of no pain with the osteoarthritis (I have no other pain). Once diagnosticians see arthritis they just dismiss any possible alternative diagnosis. Where I live the medical plan will not even pay for MRIs, etc if an x-ray shows osteoarthritis. Thank you, so much!

I have anterior femoral glide on the right side and a really twisted pelvis. Pectineus is very weak and painful, I think because it has been doing work of glutes and psoas. In any case, I am doing your valuable exercise sitting on a straight-back wooden dinner chair. I don't quite understand if I should sit up straight with anterior tilt or lean back in chair, which is uncomfortable but possible, with a scooped belly and posterior tilt. Please help and thanks for this exercise.

@johncarpenter61275 жыл бұрын
Wow, I pulled my pectinius three years ago and ever since on my road bike rides I'd occasionally get pain in the scrotum on the one side. Could never find out why. I thought it was some sort of inguinal hernia. When you said leaning forward with a tight pectinuis can cause this, a light bulb went off!! I see how to strengthen them now but how do you relieve tightness in them? Stretch before riding? Thanks!!

great video, thanks. I like you channel. I struggled with neck and middle spine pain for 2 years and did stretches mostly but now I know that I have to strengthen muscles. Recently I learned that lats have a lot to do with posture and shoulder/neck pain. What do you think?
@MSKNeurology6 жыл бұрын
Lats have very little to do with that. They are just another victim of scapular dysfunction, especially scapular depression in posture. The latter also causes neck and shoulder pain.

If you have compression of the femoral nerve from the pectineus, will this exercise help that issue? Or does that require something else?

Thank you I will try this. Also can a slight labrum SLAP tear mimic this pain. I injured my groin doing uphill sprints. They found no ligament/muscle tears with MRI. I also play ice hockey. Hope this info helps. Thanks!

I love your content! Is it possible that a strained pectinius can cause a tight psoas?
@atvols7773 жыл бұрын
This may be a stupid question but if you have a pectineus injury or tendonopathy could this exercise cause discomfort? I tried it and it reproduces the excruciating pain I typically feel.
@MSKNeurology3 жыл бұрын
Definitely. If you have a pectineus injury, and you're SURE thats what it is (ie., it's not something else mimicking it, like nerve pain), then it will hurt and you should go very easy on it. If the cause is something else, eg. genitofemoral neuralgia, then this exercise will make it worse
@krzychu79374 жыл бұрын
Should i stretch it also? The sore feeling comes back when bending the leg backwards
@MSKNeurology4 жыл бұрын
More likely to be weakness of the iliopsoas. You can try to stretch the pectineus if there's no pain in the muscle. Never stretch weak muscles though.
