Innovator. She was an artist too. She invented the look that Twiggy capitalized on two years later. Twiggy takes all the credit from swinging London, but swinging London got their Mod pixie look from an American. Edie Sedgwick. 🔥

Could you please do more videos about Edie and Andy? Especially Edie. That would be great...longer ones if you could. Thank you for posting this one!

Edie wasn’t merely a victim of the big, bad art star. “What destroyed Edie were all the forces that made it inevitable that she would destroy herself.” She was neither a passive source of inspiration nor a covert careerist, but a more-than-muse who understood that the self was the next great art form. From her sisters recent book

She was a mess because her dad was mentally ill. He was advised by his psychiatrist not to have children, but he didn't listen, he had (if I remember correctly) 10 children on a urban ranch in CA. She grew up being very lonely. She was home schooled, that I'm sure added to her loneliness.

Edie's family was very rich. That's why she was called poor little rich girl. She was born in CA but she came from the historical Sedgwick family of Massachusetts and knew the Kennedy family. On her twenty-first birthday in April 1964, Sedgwick received an $80,000 trust fund from her maternal grandmother. Soon after, she relocated to New York City to pursue a career in modeling. In March 1965, she met artist and avant-garde filmmaker Andy Warhol at a party at Lester Persky's apartment, and began frequently visiting The Factory, Warhol's art studio in Midtown Manhattan.

They all lived in a bubble that burst. The real heroes of those years were the small guys doing boring jobs in offices & factories....

Warhol was a personality & pop artist, but calling him a film maker is a joke.
