wow Daniel, amazing you got to interview Jim Scott! There's an extensive article out there from probably around early 2000s where he was interviewed about the recording process of Californication and I learned so much. Could you please tell me he also told you some thing about recording the drums with Chad Smith?

AK: "Nobody's ever accused me of having a set of pipes!". Common attack vector I hear about AK is he can't sing, he says California for the syllablles... You'll notice they always isolate the vocals to point out how, "bad" it is. Bro, the guy is not a singer, the vocals have zero fx, always raw and dry...first of all, you try that, secondly, it fits perfect w/the band.

I don’t get the hate either I think he is one of the most unique original frontman of all time. He has a signature sound that’s his. Which in my opinion having a signature sound is more impressive than say vocal range.

Can you live in a world where both are true? His voice fits with the band but he also is not a good singer. Why do you take it personally? It doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t like the band.
@scottcastro9383
@scottcastro9383 2 жыл бұрын
@@RHCPtributeParallelUniverse it’s a preference. If someone’s musical preference is a more melodic voice that is on key with greater range and variation, then they won’t like his vocals. That explains the hate. He can be unique and objectively not good. Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain, Axl Rose, John Lennon, Ozzy, Brian Johnson, and on and on - not technically good singers. It’s rock n roll. It’s ok.

I'm just gonna say, before I watch all of this: Anthony gets alot of stick from people. Mainly for the live struggles he sometimes has. But he has Always been a Great lyricist. He always shines great on the album's. And is often amazing live too. It is a hard task, competing with such amazing musicians on stage (really one of a kind string section), never having been a naturally strong singer, and doing so for 40 years on heavy tours. Respect to Anthony for that. Also: Anthony Kiedis has touched your heart, with his lyrics. Fact!

As usual with rhcp, i think they recorded enough for a double album during the btw sessions haha since Jim was a recording engineer his involvement would be with recording so he probably wasn't privy to what songs made the album since i think thats usually figured out after recording and he also might not even really be a fan of rhcp and so perhaps never listened to the album as it was released

Confused me as well, but building on what Ryan said, the B-Sides list is pretty extensive: -Time -Body of Water -Rock & Roll (unfinished) -Havana Affair -Out of Range -A Teenager in Love -Someone -Bicycle Song -Goldmine (unfinished) -Eskimo -Runaway -Rivers of Avalon -Fall Water (unfinished)

He probably THINKS by the way is a double album. If you listen to the phenomenal b sides album from by the way it's obvious they had the same care and attention put into them... As is the b sides for I'm with you... So... Some bands (smashing pumpkins cough cough) Will kinda know what the b sides are And then just spend all their energy and money on 20 tracks. Whittle that down to 12 or 14 I had no idea about the b sides from I'm with you or by the way Until very recently KZbin is amazing. I wish warner brothers was too

Morbid Man Music all do respect, I don’t think engineers consider compression and eq to be an effect but more like “processing”. Verb is an FX send but Anthony’s are pretty much just to put him in a room that’s not a hotel room. So for all intensive purposes I’d say “no effects” is accurate. At the beginning they were more a funk band with punk rock influence - or more precisely punk rock band with major FUNK influences. RHCP themselves had had a huge impact in the rap rock genre without trying. They were original, their first 3 albums with Hillel Slovak, Jack Sherman, Jack Irons, and Cliff Martinez were insanely beautiful and I still listen to them more than any other RHCP release. Unfortunately too many “fans” are unaware of their cosmic genius

@@rjadamz9117 yes rhcp took parliament funkadelic's universe, mixed it with a tiny bit of soul and hiphop..then took it to hard rock/punk rock...Its truly American in its conception because it's combining all American-made genres into a blender. John frusciante is so avant-garde he probably listens to obscure music, so the band really can't be stereotyped as rap rock
