People have talked so much about how The Oscars need a stunt category but honestly come to think of it a more general choreography category that encompasses stunts, movement, and dance would probably be a better fit.
@konradk10665 ай бұрын
The reason I heard they don't have a category for stunt work, is because it would cause stuntpeople to try and one up each other every year, which could become dangerous. I don't know how much truth there is to that, tho
@ryanmpfeiffer5 ай бұрын
@@konradk1066 Even better reason to center the category around choreography. Instead of rewarding the riskiest stunts it would reward the most complex and impressive choreography. Wouldn't need to be dangerous to be award worthy.

Seriously… some of the best horror performances are by mimes and dancers… being great at cinematography is good and all, but nothing beats seeing a real human on camera bending backwards in unnatural ways while twitching and jittering. It sells the horror more than anything else and those amazing performers almost never get credited. Stunt people, dancers, mimes, amputees, and contortionists have made some of the coolest and most memorable shots and scenes in movies. Sometimes you just need a talented dancer missing an arm to really sell that zombie or a guy who is really good at acting like a monkey. They deserve to be recognized because without them, we don’t have those incredible scenes that keep us invested and immersed and sell the whole story.

Loved the scene with him in the square. Definitely the highlight of the film. Also you can see so mutch more viciousness, power and expression in this then you can see in all the motion capture. There seems to be a great loss of detail in the use of that technique. Which is sad because what he performs is amazing! Would love to see more of purely him in movies.

Can't wait to see his work in RAMAYANA😄

while the ape performances are absolutely amazing, i especially loved his more subtle studies/performances, in the lord of the ring. Without him, its very possible all the species in the movies would just feel like humans, shrinked, taller, wider, thinner, with makeup on, but humans. Meanwhile with his performance and guidance, every race got its own 'footprint'. Instinctually making them all different.
