How are new features added to an NES game?

Here's a short time-lapse of me adding a new feature to my NES homebrew game, Super Sunny World. The sped-up portions are at 4x speed. The original video is a little under 10 minutes, and as you will see, I spend most of the time trying to find a very simple mistake I made early on! #nesdev #gamedev #indiegame

I really like this engine. if you make an interface you will have a platform game editor with great quality. I could even open a project aimed at this in parallel, the MAKER-style editor...

I think taking it from this to a very generic editor would be a lot of work. But opening it up to "mods" would be very doable.
