That point about how you can select 72 genders for yourself on facebook, but you can only be interested in 2 is fascinating. I mean, you'd think with the explosion of gender combinatorics there'd be an accompanying explosion of sexual preferences, but no. It shows how solipsistic the whole thing is. You can't be attracted to nonbinary people, because the concept does not even apply to the other. You don't "see" nonbinary people, you "be" a nonbinary person. You can't look through a lineup of humans and pick out the nonbinary ones. You, the subject, identify yourself as nonbinary, in an outward expression. That guy, the object, cannot be labeled nonbinary, because the concept does not apply to object, only subject.

Honestly. It can't even be called insanity... Theirs is a far too simplistic and ignorant (willfully so, a lot of the time) worldview. Wilful ignorance is a necessity for them since, any amount, no matter how little, of scrutiny is enough to shatter their entire concept of "reality" (delusion.)
@superroydude
@superroydude 3 жыл бұрын
This made me chuckle, it's a great observation. You can only "see" something in relation to yourself. There is no relating principle towards a "nonbinary" person only towards masculine and feminine. This is the main problem with identifying as nonbinary: what now? What role can you play in society? What does a non binary relationship look like? What is a nonbinary marriage, or family or friendship or parent? Because you've convoluted masculine and femininity in one person the only relating you do is with parts of yourself; rendering you infantile and emotionally unstable.
@csongorarpad4670

@@superroydude These "non-binary" people are just confused... The problem is simple: They think that, essentially, anything and everything is socially constructed. In my and likely your apprehension, as well, gender and sex are both biologically determined (as is also indicated by *muh science*) because gender doesn't vary independently to sex. Thus we understand that gender norms aren't the end-all be-all and that it is nothing of note when a man behaves more feminine than what the norm dictates and the same for women and their degree of normative, masculine expression. We simply used to just call feminine men, "tomgirls," and masculine women, "tomboys." There was no need to make it anymore complex than that and it were also in accordance with *science,* which we hadn't confirmed then, but have now. Which is another issue... Namely that, tradition is more often than not reflective of reality and have been re-affirmed by science, if anything, and not contradicted. But because of these "non-binary" people's beliefs, they think that if their gender expression (which they assume varies independently from sex) is different to what the norm is for their assigned gender (sex,) then they must be "something" else. Which opens (and have opened) a can of worms which we will never see an end to if we, as a society, don't come to grips with reality, meaning that; post-modernism and neo-marxism is *WRONG.*

@@csongorarpad4670 Are they really confused or are they subject to the quasi-narcissistic temptation to be whatever they want? They cannot accept the reality of their situation or even the manner of their existence. Acceptance, humility and the subjugation of self are the keys to self-actualisation. Even Maslow acknowledged this in different words.
@superroydude
@superroydude 3 жыл бұрын
@@DinoRamzi I've been thinking about narcissism; what it means and how it's different from egotism. In the Greek story, from which the term is taken, Narcissus is born with great beauty. His parents are told by the seer that he will live a long life, so long as he does not come to know himself. Some mythical misadventures happen and sure enough he goes to a pool and gazes upon the most beautiful image. He falls in love but knows his love can never be requited. The burning passion ends his life (differently depending on the story). From the story i think the narciccist is someone who outwardly identifies with their internal images yet unconsciously is in love with them as if they are seperate. It is only when Narcissus becomes conscious of his distance from the image that the tragedy is complete. To the person spell bound, he isn't looking at his own reflection. He's looking at the source and feels that *he* is merely *its* reflection - I am nothing, the image has all the life and beauty. I dont believe the narcissist is wholly self centered; certainty on the outside but i think internally the person is unconsciouly infatuated by the image, they intuit that these images point beyond themselves - to their unattainable object of burning desire. Outside they think they are their internal images yet inside they are nothing but an observer of this living image. So they are torn between outward superiority and inward inferiority. I have sympathy for such people, but i also think it's likely not healthy and this narcissism could explain the high suicide rate.

Which is preposterous since, it is in contradiction to people's intrinsic value. The fact that there exists "NPC's" so-to-speak, is not mutually exclusive to their intrinsic value. It's similar to the IQ-statistics between ethnic groups. Some people use it to motivate a racist and dehumanizing agenda, but that doesn't mean that IQ is racist, in of itself. It's just a fact of life that we have to contend with and not let it cloud our judgement and diminish the intrinsic value of each other.

@@csongorarpad4670 this would probably take too long to get into, but what you bring up is very interesting to me. I went through a period of my life where I took copious amounts of psychedelics. LSD and mushrooms mainly. I had a certain awakening in myself from that very moment. It shifted my reality. Made me realize how fragile our egos can be when put under any existential stress. I’m not advocating for these experiences, but without them I may have never seen outside platos cave in which most people spend their lives. I’m not enlightened or anything like that. I’m just simply more aware of the world as it is. Coincidentally, I discovered someone named JP during my exploration, and it was partly through watching his lectures that I didn’t go completely mad from interacting with the numinous. Basically, I think our conscious being, the you that you think is you, will expand based on how close in line with logos. Communion with logos draws out lessons learned by our ancestors through genetic code. It awakens the deep self. We could not hold a conscience if it were not given to us by God, so I think it holds up.

I have to ask since we're commenting under a video of Jonathan Pageau, who could also be shortened to and referred to as "JP." Jordan Peterson had a similar effect on myself and continue to, though not as remarkable and extreme as before, when I was in need of it the most and (I think) made it through the worst part, of that specific journey.

Brilliant summary of the main problems with AI and the machines in general. Some of these conceptions are really smart and dead on (if a bit scary). What struck me here is this idea that seems to be prevalent which leads to the concept of computers being important to begin with. We seem to be caught up in this narrative that more information is better (which has had 'if we filter it properly' added recently) or even the most important thing. Apparently this concept is something like the path to certainty by having determinate knowledge of the world. This concept of certainty being important is really dangerous - this creates a closed world view. There is no room in certainty (or efficiency, interestingly enough) for possibility or potential to enter the picture. Without those things, the world is a zero-sum game (socialism makes total sense here) where equality can exist. The idea that the technology allows us to focus means that it looks at details, but not all details are relevant and not all levels of detail analysis are appropriate for any given problem you are trying to solve. Then again, maybe you shouldn't be solving problems, but creating systems to deal with them or growing bigger than they are. If your world view doesn't include participation and a pattern based knowledge of reality, then you'll describe everything in it in terms of propositions and procedures. This will cause you to be stuck, treat people like propositions and ethics like procedures which can be implemented and applied to all propositions, ignoring the is/ought dilemma. Love this conception of the paradox of a system that uses emotions to hijack attention also believes that emotions are a problem. Then again, emotions are not propositions or procedures, so it is understandable that they have to be excluded in this closed world. Emotions enable all kinds of potential by breaking down closed systems and allowing us to push against the boundaries to find proper contrast in the world. I think the priestly class of intellectuals (as they have before) are trying to control things by becoming their own principality. This is evident in their continued march to announce that they can solve problems using their particular form of 'magic' called computers. Despite, it seems, the fact that they never thought about what those problems were (zero problem definition before declaration) or how they would solve them. It is a special type of arrogance which should always be taken really seriously. Thanks for this great discussion, everyone should see this, it contains a treasure trove of insights which can really illuminate the problems facing our society, not just in the computer space itself.

Enjky it while it lasts. It's only a matter of time before we get hammered with inflation (worse than we already have) and face the inevitable complete currency collapse. Nobody will be skipping through fields then. Perhaps we can use precious metal currencies or cryptos as a safe haven from the dollar collapse (maybe those who invest properly can preserve some of their savings while everyone else's is depleted and devalued to $0), but governments will try to impose their own "official" digital currencies which would completely monitor and control economic transactions. If it's not quite a kind of "mark of the beast" where they can just turn off your ability to buy and sell and completely strip you of financial assets with the press of a button for not following the company line, it's really close. The bright side is that I'm not sure a lot of people would even wamt to use these government digital currencies in the first place since the appeal of cryptocurrencies, at least in concept, was ti avoid government control and centralization in the first place.

Is there an answer to whether or not we are projecting our sense of consciousness (unconsciously and undeliberately so) on AI? What I mean is that we, as conscious beings, may mistake the AI to have consciousness or any semblance (and semblance is the key-word) of it. Consciousness and however it works may be assumed as a given, by people, and thus when *something* manifests a pattern, which we recognize, (like how we assume we can relate to animals and vice-versa (which on an un-related note, is the reason, I think, why vegetarianism and veganism exists,) we act in the same assumed (correct) manner that other people are also conscious and then mistakenly (though I can't know entirely for sure) assume that, in this example, AI are conscious. As you may infer by comment; I am much too ignorant and un-informed. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or guide provided, to further understand this subject (and the threat?) it entails. PS: AI, regardless of its semblance of consciousness, is clearly a threat to individuals, society, civilization and mankind, as a whole. This, I, understand.

The telos of technology is transcendence. Transcendence has as its object, a vanishing horizon, and the movement towards acquisition of such is Evolution, or at least its appearance. Human obsolescence is a natural phenomenon of technological evolution, and it will gradationally augment until it is fully actualized. Humanity is currently churning in a metaphysical tornado that is swirling with transformational implications regarding the most fundamental aspects of our existence. Technology is the most powerful tool of gnostic passion, and it is definitively gnostic because the ambition is Apotheosis. Without a metaphysical grounding, prognostications regarding Nature’s merits is ultimately irrelevant, because Ideality (Ambition’s object) persists regardless. Like Thanos says, “I am inevitable.” Sin is gravity. Ambition’s greatest secret is that if it is not subordinated to Love, it will subordinate to Avarice-the difference between Theosis and Apotheosis, which are the two apexes-because Ambition is oriented to acquisition in perpetuity. We must deal with the first principles, or prepare to be washed away by the tides of our own, perennially pathological desires.

You may not be aware that reCapta for enabling access to a site by a human and not a robot, is itself a form of mining where an AI in the background is being trained by your choices as to whether in fact a given image has a traffic light, or a truck, or a street sign. The underlying system suspects it, and we confirm it, which in fact trains the AI to better suspect with more certainty next time. There are other examples of inadvertent involvement by people in the training of such systems.

@matthewpowell4949
@matthewpowell4949 3 жыл бұрын
@@dmitrypetrouk8924 yes I believe it 'suspects' some content, and then uses humans to confirm its suspicion, so it essentially can gain confidence in its own similar suspicions like this in the future. If you have 500 different humans clicking on an image that you thought did not include a traffic light, you have something to learn. If you have 500 different humans clicking on an image that you have 49 percent suspicion has a traffic light, that can now tell you that your suspicions in instances like this might be afforded more confidence.

The way in which ethics diverge in the construction of AI is reminiscent of the Babel myth. When trying to build perfection, improvement upon humanity, we will stretch ourselves to the ends of the earth pursuing the ‘right’ way of speaking about the world and acting in it, such that we never get anything done because there’s too much to consider. This is rather similar to the idea of the building towards heaven becoming sabotaged by language barriers. More generally we fail to convene over questions of absolute or at least deep meaning, such that something as profound as AI is simply beyond our capacity for concerted dialogue. In this light it seems inevitable that should AI be built it should be at the hands of a self-elected ‘priestly caste’ and done in an authoritarian manner. The power of it is too tempting for us to wait out our lives for the world to come to agree on its successor.
