Sometimes my editors will want clarification for terms (like “the itis” for instance) that Black people will understand. So there’s a but if push and pull between them wanting to market toward a whiter audience, and therefore wanting me to explain cultural terms, and me being resistant to doing that because *my* readers don’t need it.

This is objectively false. I say this as someone who's been a fan since 2009. B.o.B was a phenomenal artist who made timeless music throughout his career. Listen to "One Day", "Coastline", "Joburg" and "E.T." for example. He didn't ride the wave, he created his own, so he could never be surpassed. The thing is... he changed his style. His music didn't become dated even by mainstream standards, have you not listened to Ether or any album after that? He slowly abandoned what made him so special to make music that reflects what's popular. It got to a point where he no longer sounds unique, like he's not even trying anymore. Now he just makes what I call strip club music... he rather talk about ejaculating on women than something actually meaningful. So it's funny you say his music didn't change... it did... and for the worst.

@Joe_Parmesan3 жыл бұрын
Earliest collaboration I can think of that didn't involve a lady singer for a romantic song is from Nas & Lauryn Hill, If I Ruled the World. Most of Mariah's collaborations with a rapper had to do with some type of romance, even if it was just a flirtatious party song (not really romantic per se). And, she was often the main feature with a guest rap verse, instead of being limited to the chorus and a few lines

If a celebrity tells you to do research on a hitler supporter, David I, that doesn’t mean they themselves support hitler. Some of us just like to promote alternate ways to look at things. “Do your own research on the topic. Then make your own mind up.” B.o.B is my favorite artist and I don’t think he has any regrets. Who wants to be that famous. Now all he has is real fans that love him and his music. Sounds like a very successful career to me.
