Ha! My first amp was a 10 watt from JC Penney! Packaged with a copy of “The Paul” Les Paul. 1983 or 84. I actually used that amp up till several years ago when it gave up the ghost. Mine had volume, tone, and speed and depth controls for tremolo. I was ignorant of pedals and wanted a Gary Richrath tone so I cranked it up all the time. Then my guitar playing uncle gave me one of his spare overdrive pedals Subscribed!

Some of these cheapo guitars are PERFECT if you want to learn how to tinker on a guitar without destroying a more expensive guitar. Have a $1000+ guitar that needs frets replaced? Get a Glarry or equivalent and practice doing it yourself. Eventually, you end up with useful skills and your cheapo guitars will be upgraded. And you save money in the long run... guitar repairs aren't cheap.

I have almost the same BCP guitar and amp only mine is the sunburst finish. I've had it about a year (I still can't play for squat). I had the same high action problem this guy is talking about, only mine was stupid high. I ordered some cheap hardwood shims from amazon, changed to Earnie Ball strings from the local guitar shop and adjusted the truss rod and bridge. My action is much closer to the neck now. The difference is like night and day. Long story short, for about fifteen dollars worth of stuff and about two hours of work I have a nice playing guitar. Please note that when I started this, all I knew about guitars was seeing them being played on TV. I did not know enough to even realise I had bad strings and high action. I watched a few youtube videos on guitar setup and jumped in. One word of caution. My truss rod did not want to turn when I first put a wrench on it. I had to wiggle it back and forth before it turned. Do not force it! If you have the same trouble, just take your time and keep bumping it back and forth.

Not s bad looking guitar. A little set up work. New bone nut new tuners. Possibly new pickups. New strings. & Oh yeah a new gig bag.... $45 to $60 on Alie Express or TEMU. Guyker Tuner's Donlis pickups. There's a ton of videos online that are FREE on setting up guitars. Tons of lessons online for Free.. So beginners have a good start. I would recommend for beginners Hal Lenard's 1 -3 books. Mel Bay 1 thru 7 books that come with videos. Also Suzuki Method Books & CD. A lot of kit guitars come with Free Lessons. So it's better than the old days where you had to go to a local music store and purchase a used guitar and lessons. No videos you had to tune by tone which IMO is the best Way to learn. Suzuki Method still does that. Pitch Pipe, tuning forks or tune off piano. I see reviews alot with beginners complaining about a pitch pipe.. That perplexes me. The digital tuners are good. Strobe Tuner better best is IMO a pedal tuner. I would also like to see beginners get a guitar stand &; music book stand. 🎤 Mic stand down the road. Obviously an intermediate player would get a few pedals. Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶🎶🎶

My roommate ha one of those Desks, It was heavy to move. Having a guitar work table is pretty important when you have 10+ guitars. And those expensive nut files someday. My first amp was a norlin era gibson solid state 15 watt with a 12'' speaker, It was loud enough, no overdrive and you could sound okay. That little amp he has sounds pretty bad even with an experienced player. Guitars you make them work or tear it apart.
@benjaminhawthorne1969Ай бұрын
The guitar may be usable, but I am betting that the amp is destined for the landfill. The speaker hole looks to be < 4", so the speaker is likely 3" diameter. I do NOT expect much "bottom end" from that! 😅 Also, the actual AMPLIFIER circuit in these very cheap solid-state amps is a single integrated circuit (IC.) That means these amps are IMPOSSIBLE to repair. When the IC goes bad, they are simply dead forever. This is a "disposable" amp. 😢 P.S. Yeah, after hearing it, that amp does an EXCELLENT impression of a kazoo! 🤪
