I wholeheartedly agree. preparing is a type of insurance. Also, I'm so glad you brought up the point that there will always be chores to do. I've been struggling with trying to get things done on the homestead, but there is always something getting in the way of it, and I really need to really try to enjoy family when they come over and not have the worry and stress in the back of my mind that I've got oodles of things to do. It always gets done eventually, maybe a little slower, but eventually. I'm still in the full swing of harvest up here, it's crazy!! I also think I over planted, but it's okay, more to put on the shelf. Just subscribed, by the way, great video! I like your style. You're very calm in the way you present things. Yes, I'm sure people think I'm crazy too for preparing, but they sure love the food when it is harvested. Sometimes I feel like the little red hen.

There’s nothing wrong with preparing for winter or anything other situations that rise I’d much rather to have food shelter water protection and a power source also a source of heat my cabin is off grid and my plan is to move there permanently soon I do love them mountains here in north Georgia I’m very happy there too

There is a large part of the population that does not want to think or consider any sort of scenario where they will have to change their current way of life. I find it sad, frustrating... and enormously infuriating with my family.

My pantry is fully stocked. I buy wheat and dent corn to grind. Can my meat and have 300 jars . Have plenty of rice and beans, spices, and on and on. I have always done this my entire adult life.

@@Houseonmeadows Problem is like this with everyone... how much preparing can one do and have family come over as well before the burden becomes overwhelming to your supplies and puts you all at risk.

@@outdooorsman Then you are not the target audience so why make a comment like that and not explain that people should be doing things like raising their own meat, hunting, fishing, gardening, etc... your original comment was less than helpful. Just arrogant. Why not encourage those alternatives and educate people instead of being an ass about it.
