On a quick note, be careful when speccing these Alienware systems up with the higher-end Nvidia GPUs. They use blower style coolers unless you pay an extra $200 for the GPU AIO thing (Which is only available with the 2080 Super for some reason). Many people have complained that the blower style cards overheat badly. So please keep that in mind. Sorry about missing that detail in the video and shoutout to Timmy Joe PC Tech for pointing that out to me.

I know my tech so I made sure I got good dual channel ram a good ssd and most importantly a9900k with a water cooled loop. So far so good I mean the pc is a beast so happy with it. During full load my 2080ti peaks at 73 degrees and I know it sounds crazy but the water cooling and the cpu is flawless. I Have it running at about 4.95ghz and it runs around 55 to 60 degrees max. Did you listen to the part where he said properly spec'd it only cost around $50 - $80 than a DIY? Properly spec'd and purchased when the price is right, these are solid systems. I buy a new Alienware laptop every new GPU generation and I have been satisfied with the equipment itself.
@devilmanscott3 жыл бұрын
@@besomewheredosomething Dawid was being way too nice. Firstly, you have to deal with that horrible case referring to the form factor. Secondly, it lacks upgradability because that motherboard was heavily skimped on, also the PSU, memory, and storage were also skimped on as-well, though as you're talking about a Laptop which is just terrible price performance in general I guess it's not an issue for you. I think only the GPU wasn't skimped on. Also to fix the thermal issues with laptops, you have to turn them into normal PCs with cooling pads, negating the reason for them, portability, and even that desktop in the video was suffering some serious CPU heat issues which will kill performance and lifespan of it.

"Running like a polio victim." has entered my lexicon. Thank you Dawid for expanding my vocabulary. Seriously though, It's kinda sad to remember what Alienware was and what it has become. It's analogous to Chrysler buying Maserati in the 80's and ten years later sticking a Maserati badge on a jumped up Chrysler LeBaron. I have a problem though. My Brother in law is tech incompetent and he (fortunatly) lives 1.8K miles away from me. He wants to play Microsoft FS2020 so he wants to buy a gaming PC. Hypothetically f we were to budget around $1k to $1.2K and balance capability vs brand vs support vs ease of install what gaming PCs are out there for a mouth breathing troglodyte (sorry, brother-in-law). It might make an interesting video.
@DawidDoesTechStuff4 жыл бұрын

@@DawidDoesTechStuff Yearrggh, they pulled the trigger on my recommendation and spent $1,200. I recommended this SLC7600BST from Best Buy. It's a CyberPowerPC - Gamer Supreme Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT - 1TB SSD. Yes I know the case airflow sucks. Yes I know the RX5700XT can get so hot that it glows in the dark without the LEDs. Yes I know it has a dodgy PSU. That's why I pointed them at Bozo Buy. Because if and when it goes wrong they can at least take it there so the dork squids in yellow shirts can hopefully fix it. That's the point, what choice did I have? More importantly what choice did they have? It's been calculated that FS2020 is going to trigger thirty two billion dollars in new PC sales. That's a lot of hopeless idiots looking to buy their first high end computer and they need your help Dawid. As for me I've turned my phone off because I know I'm going to receive a call.
