Dude, this was my introduction to One Piece as a kid. From the first episode, I fell in love with it. I came back to the series years later, and fell in love with it again. Still watching to this day!

The 4kids dub was how I got into One Piece, so despite how bad it is, I can only thank them for introducing me to the One Piece world. I mostly read the manga now, but I do still watch the anime, I prefer to wait a while, so I can marathon it.

If I’m not mistaken 4kids got One Piece in a sort of package deal from Toei. I don’t recall what all they were getting but it was multiple shows that they would get the rights to dub. Probably Kinnikuman, Yugioh, and One Piece. They probably wanted one the other shows they they’d have an easier time marketing to kids and had to take it along with them.

Criticism for this video: The 4kids audio is several times quieter than your voice. Make the 4kids audio as loud as your voice. Otherwise, finding a comfy volume based on your voice makes the dub quiet, and finding a comfy volume for the dub makes your voice deafeningly loud.

Everyone talks about 4kids creating plot holes, which they did, but you don't hear as many people calling out Toei for creating plot holes with their filler arcs, which I find to be a double standard. Also, I'm just going to say it, One Piece was never flawless, even back in the original comic, it had its fair share of stupid moments. Also, I do like the fact that they changed Zoro's name to Zolo, because now I don't need to confuse him with Zorro
