God, I love listening to genuine down-to-earth scholars! Daniel Wallace did not dissapoint. The manuscripts Daniel Wallace talks about can be viewed on his/the CSNTM website. Just because Bart Erhman's work is been mentioned (one of his first books which he wrote almost 20y ago as I'm typing this and 15 years at the time of the video's presentation) I'd like to point out that - after watching many hours and hours of personal interviews done with him by several different people - Bart Erhman admitted that since his first books were written, he has had changes of view or noticed an error here and there in some of his works. This is important to understand that further/continuous research can involve the change of mind due to "a (newly) found evidence". Which made me think that perhaps from a scholarly perspective, it therefore might not be a bad idea after f.e. a decade to contact the author before citing from his/her book, to see if something has changed. (not referring to Dr Daniel Wallace here tho) I'm glad to see that this professor who I do not know yet, aknowledges Bart in a (to me) rightful manner. To me that gives this professor credit as well! As a matter a fact, I only watched one interview done with this professor in which he elaborated on the different Bible translations and his own contribution to the NET Bible. Furthermore, I think he's doing great work in photographing all the manuscripts he can have access to and make it public to us for free! All this are indications to me that he could be considered a credible source to take into account and thanks to him and Bart's scholarly approach towards the Bible I got convinced into buying the NET Bible (2nd Ed) with 60.000 notes on the translation of the text, which gives unseen/unaccessible context to laymen people such as myself. A Bible translation that is fairly recent and the NET Bible team which whishes to be so openly accountable that they allow requests for changes by us, the readers (provides that the basis is justified) I can't wait to receive it :)

I'm not dissapointed by my NET Full notes edition. Is it a study Bible? Yes and no. My feel is that study Bibles tend to have a narrative going on, which is almost impossible to not have, but the NET Bible Full notes provides the potential for a larger freedom of judgement. It does not tell you how to interpret, it tells you why it was interpreted in a certain way. More options for criticism and adjustments! Imho it's important to every human - especially religious =>raised

@Greg W I have watched this video and a debate between Dan Wallace and Bart Ehrman, and I have learned some things: - "The percentage of change in the Bible was 2% during the 14 centuries in which we have manuscripts, although many of the first manuscripts that we have today were hidden during those centuries." - "The vast majority of New Testament scholars believe that not only is the wording of the autographs recoverable, but that we did recover it in most places." - "The reasons given by the skeptics for rejecting the New Testament are much stronger with the rejection of any other book in ancient history, so the existence of Aristotle, Greek philosophy, and everything on which we built our contemporary civilization will cease to exist." - "The New Testament is found in about a million patristic quotations. One or two of the fathers may have written their works before the writing of the New Testament itself was completed. Up to the year 250AD we had about 15 volumes of patristic commentaries on Romans alone. Many fathers wrote about the different manuscripts and their development in their era. - "150 years ago, we did not possess anything of what we have today. For nearly 100 years, German researchers believed that the Gospel of John was written after the year 160 AD, and they presented more than 2000 academic studies on it. Until a small fragment of 3 verses appeared in Egypt, dating back to between 100 AD and 150 AD made everything they said worthless. Bart Ehrman says: - "There is no major Christian doctrine based on a passage that has variants." - "If I or my Christian teacher Metzger tried to put our version as close as possible to the first text, we would not differ by more than 50 places" (out of about 137 thousand words).

@Greg W My summary is that the New Testament has changed but only in a few words and sentences that do not affect the main doctrines. In the future, we will discover more manuscripts that bring us closer to the original text, but with changes that will not exceed 3% of the corrected text today.

Here's my experience with Jesus. One night many years ago I was hit by gunfire. By all rights I should have died rite there... I was in the middle of nowhere. I looked around and thought to myself, I'm about to die. In that instant,I had an experience like no other I've ever had. I felt this " it's hard to put into words" presence come over me. I should have been freaking out but I felt the hand of God picking me up in the palm of his hand. It was Jesus and I knew it. He didn't speak in words but he let me know by that I wasn't gonna die. And I knew without a shadow of doubt I'd live through it. The person that shot me was a friend of mine. He mistook me for a deer. Anyway, I should have changed my ways back then but I didn't. I found out just how real the devil " Satan" is. Im 59 now and just turned my will and my life over to the care of God. It's not easy. It's taking a lot of work. I fight the devil and his demonic minions daily. He wants me dead! He wants you too. Believe that.

@Bert Clayton You dont know scripture buddy. Satan was behind the formation of the catholic church. How else can one explain the outright heresies that are at its very core? No dude, there are to be NO "apostolic" or "spiritual" fathers. Thats the point of this particular teaching and warning by Christ. He was speaking to the Pharisees who affected titles for themselves such as Teacher, Master, and Father. As if they were the source of truth rather than God. This is exactly what the catholics do, and it is in direct opposition to scripture. Noone should seek or receive a title that belongs to God alone. And NOONE should be revered as he is. Its satanic. Jesus is the head of the church. Period. And he is the ONLY one to whom our prayers should be directed. He alone is the author and bestower of salvation. No man can give it or take it away. There is no scriptural basis for the hierarchy practiced by the catholic church. Again it opposes scripture. The priest as father is certainly unbiblical, the pope as Holy father is blasphemous. NOONE is holy. Earthly, fleshly fathers are not the target of Christ's message here. It warns against the exact thing the catholics do. Here are a few more heresies of the catholic church designed specifically to replace God's authority with that of this most Unholy of "churches". Infant baptism, the infallibility of the pope(only recently modified, and disgusting and wicked), the confessional box, the selling of indulgences, absolving of sins, the celibacy of the priesthood, holy water, excommunication, its wealth and greed, its nearly 1700 yr. history of keeping the Bible out of the hands of their congregations(again, this is opposite of what the Bible teaches) and the murder of hundreds of those who tried to make it available. I could keep this list of the satanic practices of this cult going all day.

This world is run by the Queen of England on the quite! Elizabeth Saxe Coburg Gotha is under the control by the CHIEF ARCHON JEHOVAH THE EVIL GOD OF THE BIBLE! AND HIS ARCHONS! That's why the freemasons use the name Jehovah and the bible in their sick rituals! The god of war and evil! Exodus 15:3-The Lord is a man of war. . Psalm @-He teacheth my hands to war. Psalm 144:1-Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacloth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight. Psalm 137:9_ A blessing on the one who seizes your children and smashes them against the rock! WHAT A LOVING GOD RIGHT? This is the god of eden Jehovah saying! Isaiah 45:7 (King James Version): I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things! The entity who was trying to teach mankind the knowledge of good and evil was not Satan or devil. The Serpent was someone labeled evil by those who were taking over the human race. The Serpent was trying to liberate the human race from its bondage. Evil cannot succeed without deception. This is why it uses the "good works" organization of Freemasonry to hide behind. It uses Freemasonry to control the world as proclaimed in the bible. And some of us know that the Queen of England controls the Illuminati freemasons! Many times in the past all the governments has lied to and has withheld information from the people. It has violated human rights laws. These traits match that of "God" in Eden. There is undeniable evidence which proves that earth is set up to empower those who control it and that they have evil intentions towards the human race. All the governments of the world, you may have noticed its behaviour exhibits the same as by god in Eden. There is no difference between the two! King James Bible The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name. The "original sin" was created to keep us away from knowledge,... THE FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE!!!! The god of Eden is misleading the entire "earth"! And this is why?

@ Eric White Christians incessantly claim that "The Devil Deceives" "The Devil Deceives..." What they fail to see is that everything they accuse the Devil of is really the God that they worship, known as Yaweh/Jehova. Keep also in mind NT did not exist until council of Nicea around mid 350AD I think decided what codexes to include as part of the what we call today as the NT. Then I don't even to highlight all the other issues with these early writings, their accuracy of actual events and what was being said, authority, political and theological propaganda.. How accurate would you think anything would be if you had to write an complete account of exactly what the the french king in 1700s did and said? @@peaceloveandcompassion6185 I haven't read this particular book, but did study the claims (that Jesus went to India and/or Japan) many years ago. these ideas are essentially based on garbled versions of very late legends (centuries after the New Testament was written), and are not reliable. the idea that Jesus survived crucifixion is a modern one, born out of the modernist/liberal Christian movement that tried to explain away miracles as naturalistic phenomenon to make it palatable to materialists. Islam declares that Jesus was not crucified, but that another was crucified in his place and it was miraculously made to appear that it happened. this too seems to be based on a garbled re-telling of a later Gnostic belief. certain Gnostics claimed (at least a century after Jesus' death, and many decades after the NT books were written) that Jesus Christ had no physical body (or that "Christ" was the divine being and "Jesus" was just his human shell) and that the divine being could not be killed and so he "laughed" at those crucifying him and floated away, leaving the fleshy "shell" to die. for Gnostics (the docetic version 2nd, 3rd century, denounced as heresy), the world of matter was the creation of a lesser, fallen god they called "the demiurge" and the true, Spiritual God had nothing to do with the Old Testament or the Creation. this "new" God was revealed first by Jesus, that the human race consisted of some people who were truly just animals, but some had a divine spark trapped in fleshy prison and only secret gnosis (knowledge) could free them to escape the body at death and become pure spirits to eventually reunite with the unknown spiritual God. it's nothing to do with ancient apostolic (1st century) Christianity. the Quran's view on Jesus is 7th century. hope that helps

@Bert Clayton Nobody in the Catholic church has ever been saved. The Catholic church did not keep and preserve the bible all those years. Roman Catholicism has always been a works based false religion, with idols and false gods. It's not hard to figure out how God preserved His Word. Look at he book of Revelation. It was written to the seven churches in Asia. A copy was sent out to all of them. The letters that make up the NT were written and sent out, then copied and passed on. To say that the old testament was taught to Christians in synagogues is not logical. Although Jesus and the apostles taught in the synagogues, it was not where the churches met. Jesus referred to the Jews as the "synagogue of Satan" in Rev 2:9 and 3:9. The Romans may have persecuted and killed the saints later on, and the Catholic church continued that practice, but the Jews were the ones persecuting and killing the saints in the first century. They appointed deacons to serve in the church so that the elders could labor in the Word. The elders, bishops, or pastors didn't leave the church to labor in the Word. They had the Word. The Word was not controlled by the synagogue of Satan, and the Roman Catholics. The Catholic Church didn't hand over the textus receptus in Greek. They kept it in Latin. I don't really care what they had for manuscripts, they were as corrupt as the day is long, and have only ever served to defile and corrupt the Word of God, as is evidenced by their female deity, bishops and priest called "father", and them putting themselves between man and God, when there is but one mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus. We need to separate ourselves from those who Satan uses to deceive us. Read Revelation chapters 17 and 18, and give some thought to who best fits the descriptions of the great whore. Then consider how it was the Jews who were infiltrating the churches in the first century, and bringing in "damnable heresies", such as commanding people to keep the law to be saved. Galatians and Ephesians are a good read for that. If you are caught up in the Jews being God's people, read Galatians 3:16 through the end of the chapter, and you will know who the children of Abraham are, and who the promises to Abraham and his seed were actually to. Romans 2 tells you who is not a Jew and who is a Jew. There is alot of deception in the world of Christianity. The mystery of iniquity doth already work. Beware of false prophets. Get saved by grace through faith alone if you are not already. Don't trust in turning from your sins to be saved. otherwise Jesus will say that He never knew you. If you are saved, you can read the scriptures and understand them, for they are spiritually discerned. 1 John 2:27 tells us that we need not a man to teach us, because the anointing which abideth in us teacheth us all things, but few will find life, and Jesus said, because the way to life is too narrow for the many. It is faith alone. As Paul said in Romans 4;5 "but to him who worketh not, but believeth in him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness". You faith alone saves you, without the works of the law Repenting of yours sins is obeying the law, and will condemn you if you trust in it to save you. Ephesians 2:8,9 "for by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. God be with you. Get a King James bible if you don't have one. The others teach works salvation saying that Paul the apostle was "being saved" in 1 Corinthians 1:18. It is not true. He was saved, because He gives unto us eternal life, and we shall never die. He tells us that we "shall not come into condemnation". Whosoever heareth my words and believeth in Him who sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life (John 5:24). Pay close attention to those words. Every word of God is precious and true. John 11:26 "Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die". "liveth" doesn't mean lifestyle, it means whosoever is alive. Read the context. Being sealed unto the day of redemption means that God has you sealed, and no man can snatch you out of His hand, not even yourself. Are you stronger than God? No.

@Bert Clayton Did the written Word begin with the printing press. You do know that history is written by the victor, right? Concerning blind trust I believe 1 John 2:27. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. The scholarship of mankind does not have this anointing to teach them. The bible is a spiritual book. What about "Professors" ? Romans 1:Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Proverbs 1:7The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 1 Cor 3:9 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own I trust the bible, not men. That is why I don't need to know every detail about how man preserved it, because man does not preserve that which condemns him, but rather perverts that which is true to control people who believe in it. I will answer your question about churches that split off of the Catholic Church if you can provide me with a complete history of which churches believed and practiced the following, all the way back to Christ: 1 Salvation by grace through faith alone, and without any form of works, not even repentance of sins. 2: Baptism by submersion only, and in accordance with Acts 8:37, which is missing from the Catholic bible, and all of the perverted modern versions which do not inform people that you cannot baptize a baby, because a baby cannot believe in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God. Those two things alone eliminates virtually all protestants. The gospel that saves was never lost, because only saved people can get other people saved. Mathew 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. False prophets who bring a repent of your sins gospel only produce corrupt fruit, and only a pure gospel brings forth good fruit. Since we still have good fruit being produced, where is the history on those people? The history on those people will include those who believed the statements above, rejected Catholicism and it's tenants, and also rejected protestantism. They were the people who were re-baptizing people after they believed the above mentioned. The only Christian nation that ever existed was Israel, and for short periods of time in the OT. No nation since Christ has been ruled by biblical command. Christ being interpreted is Messiah. OT saints were looking forward to Jesus, as we look back. Romans 4 tells you who the OT saints were. Declaring yourself a Christian nation does not a Christian nation make. Catholics call themselves Christians nowadays, but they absolutely are not God's people.

@Bert Clayton I don't know about corn on the cob. It never came up in my bible reading. I do not know what 11th century church split off of the Catholic Church in the 11th century that you are looking for. What I do know, is that the 11th century was a mess as it was recorded, and there was no faction of the Catholic Church that believed and practiced the bible as stated in the RT, which consisted of manuscripts that had been copied and passed down for many centuries. You are going to have to define "Christian nation", because I would define it by the bible, and you obviously have your own definition. You can look up the official date of the invention of the printing press as well as I can. It is inconsequential to me concerning the the perpetual preservation of God's Word. I don't care, therefor I don't know the exact date. That is information that passed through my head as an interesting piece of information, but is not foundational to my beliefs or my life. I take all of man's historical record with a grain of salt, because so much of it has been proven to be false that it is not worth putting a lot of weight on. Even if you deem someone's writings from many centuries ago to be objective, you still cannot account for perspective, and all of the misinformation that they had. No, I don't know how long it took the scribes to write out the Torah, or any other document? How long it takes a person to write something has nothing to do with the validity of their writings. I've heard people talk about it, but none who had first hand experience with it. Have you done it, or seen it done? I believe that WW2 happened, but I don't believe all of the official story about it, and that wasn't that long ago. Why would I put a lot of weight on things that were recorded much further back in time, and when even fewer people had control of the historical documentation of those events? That's the best I can do.

@Bert Clayton I've given the gospel to people who are in the Orthodox church, and they have no assurance of salvation. They are pretty hard works salvation people, who never know if they are in the grace of God or not. I have no church, because I cannot find a biblical church that doesn't have a false gospel. I have traveled several hours away to attend a biblical church. Orthodoxy doesn't fit, because they don't believe in the eternal security of the believer, and they use graven images and have their idols. They are very much like the Catholic Church. I know Catholics as well. They work for their salvation, and abstain from meats and drinks, which goes against scripture. You can't put a man between you and God unless it is the man Christ Jesus, because there is only one mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus. They put themselves in the place of Jesus, which is a damnable heresy, and makes them anti-Christ. You confess your faults one to another, not your sins so that the priest becomes a part of your forgiveness. It's not just a matter of reading your bible, although all of these things could be solved by doing so, because the messages are clear, but rather, you have to be saved. Not being save, but saved. I sense that you have little against the Calvinists. It is difficult for me to consider their teachings when they don't understand the meaning of the word "all". When someone can't understand the word "all" when it is used in the bible, they clearly cannot discern the scriptures. There is something blocking them from understanding. 1 Corinthians gives us some insight. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. What you are saying is that Joe church member cannot read and understand the bible, because all of the exhortations in the bible to study the scriptures daily, search the scriptures to see if these things are so, and all scripture being given for reproof, correction, doctrine, and instruction in righteousness is not for him. That would be really convenient for the false teachers that creep in unawares, because your average church member couldn't discern who was false and who was not, because he can have no confidence in what he reads. 1 John 2;27 says "the same anointing". Jesus isn't here to give any special anointing to specific people. Unless you are going to deny the indwelling of the Holy Ghost in the believer, we all have the same anointing to teach us all things. When false teachers creep in, the scriptures and the anointing are what every believer has to know they are false teachers. If you keep your church members stupid and dependent on you, you can get them to believe whatever you want to. It was when I started reading and believing the scriptures that I realized how wicked most churches are, and how much false teaching there is. Yes, they will have itching ears, and shall not endure sound doctrine. Who is that talking to, the people in the pew who can't be responsible for their own beliefs? No, it is the teachers who they "heaped" up unto themselves, yet you would have me default to what they tell me the scriptures say, because I can't read and study the scriptures for myself, and am only supposed to have a bible to sort of follow along while sitting in a pew. That is the bad kind of sheep. If you repent of your sin to quicken your spirit, then you are performing the works of the law, which cannot save you. Jonah 3:10 tells us that turning from our wicked way is works. For God saw their works that they turned from their evil way, and God repented of the evil that he said that he would do unto them, and he did it not. Nineveh was saved from physical destruction, and obviously were not all saved spiritually. The law was given to be a schoolmaster, to bring us to Christ who saves. Romans 4 makes it clear that "to him that {worketh not}, but believeth in him who justifieth the ungodly, his [faith} is counted for righteousness. Isaiah 64:6 says that our righteousness' are as filthy rags. If you add your righteousness of turning from your sins to be able to enter into the kingdom of God, he will say that He "never" knew you. Mathew 7 tells us that those who were claiming many wonderful works are told that He never knew them, and then Jesus calls them workers of iniquity. The reason he called them that is because preaching a works salvation means you are working iniquity. The strait and narrow path is so narrow that you can't fit your works into it, and few therebe that find it. Why few. There is plenty of evidence for that. The many people who attend churches are trusting in themselves just enough to condemn themselves. Eph 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. Turning from your sins is of yourself. The only commandment that you need to obey to be saved is when the bible tells people to obey the gospel, which is to believe on Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, as Paul told the jailer who asked him how to be saved. Your righteous filthy rags can only make a clean thing dirty. You can't add your righteousness to the righteousness of Christ and still enter through the strait gate. Speaking of words that people get wrong in the bible, "wine" is not always alcohol, unless you thing that the wine in the cluster is fermented. Jesus didn't make barrels of alcoholic wine for people who were already well drunk. Well drunk just means that they had already drank a lot of juice from the cluster. We are "all" made kings and priests, and Jesus is our high priest. No human priest can contradict what the bible says and get away with it so far as I am concerned. Christians don't go around calling each other priests. The term they used in the bible is "brother" or "sister", and specifically not "father". No priest who prays to a woman statue is a brother of mine.

Consider this: Names are attached to the titles of the Gospels ("the Gospel according to Matthew"), but these titles are later additions to the Gospels, provided by editors and scribes to inform readers ... the editors thought were the authorities behind the different versions. That the titles are not original to the Gospels themselves should be clear upon some simple reflection. Whoever wrote Matthew did not call it "The Gospel according to Matthew." The persons who gave it that title are telling you who, in their opinion, wrote it. Authors never title their books "according to." To this day nobody knows who wrote these works. Later much Later Some unknown hands collected the writings of these anonymous writers put them between hard covers and stuck the words "Holy Bible" on the cover? Who were these Guys ...." Nobody knows! Who gave them the Authority to call it Holy ? Nobody knows......though the current Bible has some reference to the "one true God" ....and some sermonizing .....besides that it has almost no guidance for the Human race. “In Matthew, Jesus declares, “Whoever is not with me is against me.” In Mark, he says, “Whoever is not against us is for us.” Did he say both things? Could he mean both things? How can both be true at once? Or is it possible that Jesus did not say these things at all ?? The bible therefore is a book that does not inspire any confidence with regards to reliability. Here's another shock: ONLY in the latest of the Gospels, John, does Jesus indicate that he is divine. Why ? Reflect and one will come to realize that none of the earliest traditions indicates that Jesus said any such thing about himself. And surely if Jesus had really spent his days in Galilee and then Jerusalem calling himself God, all of the sources prior to John would be eager to report it. To put it differently, if Jesus claimed he was divine, it seemed very strange indeed that Matthew, Mark, and Luke ALL failed to say anything about it. Did they just forget to mention that part? Reflect & we come to realize that Jesus’ divinity is part of John’s theology, not a part of Jesus’ own teaching. As Muslims, we are blessed to believe in the Gospel given to Jesus the son of Mary, and taught to avoid like plague the Gospel of Tom ,Dick Harry or Potter which you are boasting about! ... In fact you Val P are the enemy of Christ. Search for the truth......its called ISLAM !

Your comment is right on point! I was listening to the (lengthy!)introductions..., what they said was all of the academic titles, degrees, published works, etc. As if to give "weight" to their opinions..., I believe that if Almighty God had inspired the writers of the Bible, both Old & New Testaments..., why wouldn't He ensure that His Word was copied/printed accurately throughout time? We have ancient preserved original texts of the Babylonians, Sumerians, & Egyptians to name a few.These date back thousands of years..., no one really questions their authenticity w/virulent attacks as is done to the Holy Word of God! Also we have the famous Dead Sea scrolls..., which when compared to modern copies of the Bible were found to be very accurate..., and they date back two thousand years!

There is no original in Hebrew it was written in Greek. None of the gospels agree, the New Testament is a mess for example Acts states G d raised Jesus from the dead Paul says that Jesus appeared only in spirit not a revivified body, the gospels weren’t written until 40-70 years after the death of Jesus and include a genealogy for a virgin birth when numbers states that the tribe comes from the father. But the church says Jesus is G d, G d didn’t resurrect himself. Jesus stated “why do you call me good only the father in Heaven is good”. So Jesus never said he was G d. Organized religion wrote and adjusted the New Testament to control people (and destroy other beliefs) case in point romans 13 which advocates that government MUST be obeyed because they are there to carry out G d’s wrath. So Stalin and Hitler are legitimate according to Paul simply placed there by G d to carry out G d’s anger!!! The New Testament misquotes Jesus a follower of the Old Testament.

Very interesting. I've only watched 36 minutes of this and now must pause it. I certainly will get back to this because I MUST find out where this discussion will lead. Years ago I was privileged to view a segment of the dead sea scrolls in Milwaukee, WI. It was amazing and reassuring to learn the segment from Isaiah was letter for letter identical to the copy that was preserved by the Israelites in one of their facilities. The text of the two was identical. That testifies to the careful dedication of the scribes who made the copies. To insist that within one language a scribe would introduce mistakes is to do him an injustice. The dead sea scroll proves it is possible to have identical copies of the ancient scriptures. I do concede minor errors could creep in when translating from Greek to English or from Hebrew to English. But are we to believe the minor differences between languages are so wretched as to make the translation worthless? I say no. If I was a scholar translating from Greek to English a document that I knew many others down through the ages would be reading and trusting to be the word of God, I would certainly be as cautious as any man could be. I would NEVER want to be guilty of polluting the word of God. And I am certain that those who make copies of the Greek were of the same mind. They would be incredibly cautious to be accurate in their task. Men worked diligently to bring the word of God into a language the masses could understand. Many were martyred for daring to undertake such a task due to the ignorance of those in position of power. Read up on how the Geneva bible was compiled. There were several men killed in the process of getting that bible into print. Look carefully at the King James version and compare it with the Geneva bible and you will be astonished at the accuracy of the two. Since they were the oldest to be compiled and printed in English, they should be the most accurate since the critics insist errors creep in with each subsequent "copy" of the manuscripts. Till I can return and continue this, I bid you, in all you do, go with God.

@@ronfoss9723 In both those cases that you stated the individual's were brainwashed and in a controlled environment. In the case of the disciples, they were not in a controlled environment and whom were they brainwashed by? You're forgetting also the empty tomb. All any critic had to do at that time was point out that Jesus's body was still the tomb and that would have been the end of it but they didn't because it wasn't and critics were aware of this and information exists on that outside of the bible. Historians/scholars that were not Christians mention an empty tomb. The Toledoth Jesu, a compilation of early Jewish writings, is one source acknowledging this. It acknowledges that the tomb was empty, and attempts to explain it away. Further, we have a record of a second century debate between a Christian and a Jew, in which a reference is made to the fact that the Jews state the tomb was empty . So it is pretty well established that the early Jews admitted the empty tomb. Even if they tried to explain it away. Also, the disciples DIDN'T exactly display the typical trademarks of those who were brainwashed. Remember they themselves were reluctant to believe Jesus had risen. They had all run like cowards and abandoned him the night he was crucified and they were all ready to go back to a life of fishing. Hardly the attitude of brainwashed individual. Even Thomas didn't take the word of his friends when they swore they had seen Jesus and he had risen. His response; unless I see for myself and put my hands in the holes of his hands and side, I will not believe. Well that same doubting Thomas got his wish and latter went on to die for his belief. You also have to take in an account the likes of Paul and Jesus's brother James who were originally outsiders and had originally opposed the the disciples and James Jesus's own brother originally thought his brother was mentally disturbed when he would go around proclaiming he was The way the truth and the life. But like Thomas he had a complete about face after the resurrection. Both James and Paul who originally could have been compared to an Isis member of his day because he took great pleasure in torturing and killing Christians but like James he too seemingly had a complete sudden change of heart. Believing to the point of now dying just like James for his change in attitude. Also, there is a huge difference in both the examples that you gave regarding heaven's gate and Jim jones. The disciples didn't just swallow a pill and die or drink a cup cup of cyanide. All of them were tourted. Not just once and done, they lived a miserable life and a tortured existence. Some were boiled in animal fat, or stoned, burried alive, beaten and flogged over and over again, their skin being ripped apart. They were thrown in prison and some burned alive or crucified. This goes well beyond simply being brainwashed imo. It would take a lot more than just a cult leader to persuade someone to live as these disciples did or have the about face that Paul, Jude and James had.

One author had an answer something like this: No Messiah would have had public support unless he wanted to expel the Romans. The surname Iscariot is similar to "sicarii," the legal term for murderers.The Zealots, of whom Simon was one, had a policy of driving out the Romans. At one point, Jesus urged His disciples to take up their swords. A sword was used during his arrest. Then, when Titus captured Jerusalem in A.D.70, most of these passages were removed from the Gospels to make Christians appear to be law-abiding citizens. I haven't checked whether there is any evidence to support this theory. My first reaction is that the Church was still too young to show this degree of organization. But you asked for a counter-theory. (His thery on not eating pork is more sensible. Herds of pigs need to be near beech-trees all the time, and that would be a bad thing for a nomadic tribe.)

The ex preacher offered him acceptance which is what he was searching for. His emotional outburst was understandable You might have realized from my conversation so far, that I'm not committed to a religion. You have obviously been tainted by a godless critic of the words of God that has made you a godless critic of the words of God. Let me help, you need help! "for my own sake, brother, which gospel? Luke's? Matthew's? John's?" The Gospel is the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. You are confusing the books that catalogue the Gospel with the Gospel. The Gospels (first 4 books of the NT) compliment each other they do not conflict. A lost sinner like you would not know that. They each tell a different aspect of Christ's ministry and life. "Which publication? From which year? In what language?" Not sure what you mean with those questions. The word of God for English speaking people is the King James Bible. The modern versions (translated since 1881) are all corrupt because they come form corrupted manuscripts. (Vaticanus, Sinaiticus & Septuagint) The King James Bible comes from the Masoretic Text and the Received Text

" I really don't like calling people 'idiots' but.. seriously, you're an idiot who just can't be honest... you don't want the truth. It makes much more sense to you that God committed suicide for a mistake he made." 1. All you have is your childish insults when you get bested by your betters. 2. You have not shown me where I have been dishonest. I have only told you the truth. I lie not. 3. I never said that God committed suicide. God has never made a mistake. You really should go get reprogrammed! Your cult has indoctrinated you to the point of idiocy. "God sacrificed himself.. TO Himself.. to save us from HIS OWN Wrath?" Not what happened. Read John 3:16 It's called justification. Jesus is our propitiation. Big words for a little minded reprobate... I know. But if you ask your mommy for a dictionary, she might teach you how to use one. "lol That makes sense to you?" Not at all... That is not what happened. Of course you don't get it, you are a lost hell bound sinner. You should repent.

This may be a non-essential question, but why in the referenced Revelation 13:18 does the KJV translate “the number of man” as “Six hundred threescore and six” versus a literal number of “666" in the NKJV and other more modern translations? If “616” is “the number of man’s” neighbor, so be it. Very curious.

@DavidmByrd
@DavidmByrd 3 жыл бұрын
@Robert Cameron The following can indicate a delusion:[16] The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force, even when evidence suggests the contradictory. That idea appears to have an undue influence on the patient's life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent. Despite their profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it. The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief. There is a quality of centrality: no matter how unlikely it is that these strange things are happening to them, the patient accepts them relatively unquestioningly. An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility. They will not accept any other opinions. The belief is, at the least, unlikely, and out of keeping with the patient's social, cultural, and religious background. The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of their psyche. The delusion, if acted out, often leads to behaviors which are abnormal and/or out of character, although perhaps understandable in light of the delusional beliefs. Individuals who know the patient observe that the belief and behavior are uncharacteristic and alien. Additional features of delusional disorder include the following:[16] It is a primary disorder. It is a stable disorder characterized by the presence of delusions to which the patient clings with extraordinary tenacity. The illness is chronic and frequently lifelong. The delusions are logically constructed and internally consistent. The delusions do not interfere with general logical reasoning (although within the delusional system the logic is perverted) and there is usually no general disturbance of behavior. If disturbed behavior does occur, it is directly related to the delusional beliefs. The individual experiences a heightened sense of self-reference. Events which, to others, are nonsignificant are of enormous significance to him or her, and the atmosphere surrounding the delusions is highly charged.

On the religions, all the prophecys was written after the events, the bible was made by the Roman emperors, try to investigate the truth behind the Christian religion it's a conspiracy by political interests. Watch on you tube the cesar's messiah, is a documentary of many people, professional investigation. And read other people with the knowledge of the ancient christianity, like antonio pinero, or mauro biglino who translate the old testament text to the real meaning, not how the romans made the translations back on year 325 on the nicea's council where they create the bible. Find out how the bible was made. Is not God revelation. Men create god not vice versa. I'm only a normal person who have doubt about religion and God, and I wants to investigate what is behind the religion romans impose to spain when they where a colony conquered by romans and spain impose to my ancestors when they conquered america and we inherit from our parents. And the people who still believe in the bible and religion is because they live out of it or because they still ignorants, on the 21 century bible makes no sense and has no historical base. Thanks and I'm know I can not wake up people who pretend to be sleeping. none of the bible leyends miths or allegories makes sense any more,. we can not live on the 21 century on a book from 2000 years ago. may be at that time was credible but not 2000 years after.

The canon of Scripture was carefully determined, based on proximity of the writing to the actual events, by who/whom wrote it (and were they a credible witness), etc. The gnostic writings, the "other gospels", etc. were not included because they either came far too late (100s of years later), were not written by credible witnesses (but, rather, by people with an agenda), or didn't make any sense as they so contradicted what the actual witnesses wrote (making it clear that they were fraudulent). Maester Auron what makes you think the NT is for white people? Have you read the Bible? Who said God made any mistakes? Where do these assumptions of yours come from? If your foundation is racism and hatred, then that which you build on it will be informed by racism and hatred. If your foundation is built on the rock of God’s Word, then you will never be fooled by the ways of the world, or the powers that seek to divide us. Have white people done innumerable evils while invoking the name of God? Yes! And they’re not the only ones! They will all be judged that much more harshly on the last day, for bearing false witness against the LORD’s name. You will be judged just the same as the rest, so I pray you turn away from your hate; nothing is gained by it. Racism begets racism, hate begets hate, but by the same way, love begets love. We can ALL be brothers and sisters, serving one another, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation that was always of God, that Jesus Christ and his apostles made known to all the world. The truths therein are eternal, and were always with God before mankind. I hope you look for truth, my brother. Until then, go with peace, and be blessed.

27:14, I wonder how he can prove that there are variations of the copies of the Quran. I haven't heard or seen anyone claiming and proving this before. If he means the different recitations, that's not a variation in the text, its rather how its recited. If anyone has any references please share. thanks

@@letsbegood_ The best time invested was going straight to the source - the Quran - and read it myself. My mind was made back then and there: it is not a book divinely-inspired. What we were discussing here (from my perspective) was whether this piece of literature was kept intact. To get an answer to a straight question I didn't get here (typical, I'd say), I checked an article by Shabir Ally, mentioning Angelica Neuwirth. It seems she does not support the idea that the Quran has been kept intact. Therefore, reading her works with the expectations you set up, would've been lost time. As is - with all due respect - any discussion here, going forward. All the best!

1:17 Having to check a title means it's a department of substance? Are you sure it doesn't mean the title just has lots of fluff to impress people? 43:50 What if instead of leading the charge of textual criticism, they lead the charge of restoring its integrity as best as possible? 1:13:12 Essential beliefs aren't affected by variants, and he says "I agree". I'll admit I progressively paid less and less attention throughout this video. But I'm confused because it seemed like he was criticizing the text, not setting us up to agree with it.

I read the Bible from cover to cover and it took me a long time. I did skip over the begot some of the letters and what the book and verse were. It really is a good book . There’s a word called faith. You either believe or you don’t . Revelations 22:19 Warns About taking words away from the Bible so we already know it’s been changed. We also know right fro wrong. If you believe in Jesus you will be saved . The Bible does tell us that throughout the Bible. I think there’s a lot of books that wasn’t included sitting at the Vatican in a secret room that was locked away because the church decided no one should ever know what those books say.. I also think it’s good to have a personal relationship with a Jesus. I’ve heard the pope in video say that was dangerous. And I know that I feel closer to the lord sitting out in nature then sitting in a church.

@@solomonaryeetey6934 It doesn’t matter if it’s nonsense because you will be dead, and if it’s not nonsense then you will either be resurrected into life or you will be resurrected for your second death which is the lake of fire. That’s why you need faith. John 20:29. Jesus told him “ you believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me”. You probably don’t believe because you have never experienced God working in your life and you probably won’t because you don’t believe. Do you believe in ghosts? I do because I’ve experience them growing up in a house where things would happen. I know that it real so there’s no reason for me to not believe Jesus isn’t real because I know he is. Can I prove it, no. But I don’t really need to prove it do I. That’s a choice you make on your own . To have a personal relationship with Jesus or not.

when people remove the bible from its historical and literary context, and start presuming their private interpretation IS the intended meaning of the text (and often on top of that, start to believe that God himself has "revealed" their private interpretation as the truth), they quickly fall into error. at this point, one can make the bible mean just about whatever one wants. it's no wonder then that in the west there is so much confusion and so many new "churches" and "denominations." its not the fault of the bible that people misread or mangle it. these same people also automatically reject the Catholic Church, which put the thing together in the first place, and preserved it for them all these centuries. but are they grateful? no, instead they try to tear it all down with proof texting.

Great lecture except for one concern: he diminishes the vast majority of differences as having no "essential" implications without citing any specific differences most critical. One particular important difference he dismisses by using a quote from a fictional character in a novel. There WAS heated debate among early Christian writers regarding the original nature of Jesus, that is, when he became God and how separate the members of the Trinity-debate hot enough that it was pretext for extermination of whole sects by the winners, some of which were not even invited to the First Council of Nicaea. If that distinction no longer matters because none of the genocide victims remain to be concerned about, he should have pointed that out because it serves as one of the earliest examples of disagreements over dogma and canon leading to holy war. It's details like these that people use to commit atrocities in the cause of dogmatic purity. Ask former and prospective slaves how they feel about such discrepancies. Ask LGBTIQ how much they appreciate the interpolations and dismissal of storytelling conventions in favor of literal, contextless, anachronistic readings (and therefore translators' word choices) of the Old Testament Lot passages, which many a hellfire and damnation Christian then attributes to Jesus. The fact that he dismissed the import of the only controversial variation about which he got specific renders the credibility of his final conclusion, and follows up with the obviously trivial on its face debate about 616/666 because we can not trust his judgment calls. He speaks from the privileged position of being a descendant of the winning parties of the inquisitions, crusades, and other wars fought, and not belonging to any currently marginalized group threatened by nationalist zealots.
