What a bunch of grumpy people in this comment section.... I definitely enjoyed the game very much, and all of the tie-ins were amazing. Why people hate it so much, I will never know. Anything they criticize the game about is minimal. Can’t wait to play the story again! And that doesn’t mean they can do no wrong in my eyes. Honestly I didn't care that she defected, but the more I thought about it, the more infuriated I became. One: it was marketed as a game through the eyes of the Empire, yet more than half is from the rebel POV. She defects in the 2rd mission. Two: after being raised and indoctrinated with Imperial ideals, how the hell does she defect that quickly? She sees one event and she's like "nope I'm outta here!"??? She had to have seen worse events than what happened on Vardos, especially being the equivalent to Seal Team 6. Three: yes we're getting more, but I feel it's too short off the bat. It really didn't add anything new and monumental, but I hope we get something of substance soon.

NoVa Why I hated Force Awakens. Other than being an HD rehash of the first trilogy, the new characters were terribly handled. Finn turned his back way too quick, the comic that had more of his backstory showed that he did have friends (so called "brothers") in his squad so why did he betray them so quick? Wouldn't the rebels killing some make him even more angry at the Rebellion. Poe was a dumbass entrusted with the VERY IMPORTANT mission of recovering a droid but nope "hey you were a former trooper, help me find the droid" (then disappears for 2/3 of the movie). And finally Rey completely Mary Sue's her way out of everything. Disney ruining stuff.

I've been looking forward to this video from you two for a long time now. I only bought the game for its single player campaign and I was severely disappointed in it. It did have a lot of nice Easter eggs but not nearly enough to enjoy the story. And I don't ever like to buy an incomplete game either! Making you wait a month to finish the story is not a good business move.

The DLC contains TLJ spoilers. It cannot be released until after the film. It should be celebrated that they're making the game and the new film fit together storywise, and immediately after release as well.

Rey is Leia and Han's daughter. When Kylo fell to the dark side they had to hide Rey. Luke wiped Han and Rey's mind (Similar to Kylo's mental abilities... where do you think he learned that from). Then Leia entrusted Rey to Iden and Del to hide and raise as their own child (just like what happened to her). To protect Rey Leia couldn't know her whereabouts. Iden found out that Kylo got to Del and left Rey on Jakku so that she would be safe. Big fan of Jedi Council. Been watching since the first episode. I am fairly certain I have this one pinned. There is really good symmetry with the original trilogy and prequels. Happy to expand further to back this up. Big fan of Harloff, Mark and Ken.

Doesn't line up, Kylo caught up with Del just before the events of TFA. Rey was on Jakku for a lot longer than that. Kylo would have been too young when Rey was dropped on Jakku as we saw she was a little girl in her flashback.

I agree the story was too short, and the turn was too sudden, they put some really good indicators in the book theyt could have followed up on in this story to make her turn more believable. Having said that I really liked what I got none of the tie ins felt forced. I mean if you followed the story of a soldier in the Gettysburg battle people would complain about too much Lincoln and we heard the address he gave and too many connections. Sometimes connections are there simply because you are in a time and place where that's going to happen. Although all the highest members of the Rebellion being your best friend all of the sudden? Still can't wait for more and love the Galactic Multiplayer battles, so fun. In fact going to play that now a little before work.

The best part of the entire campaign was literally walking through reused multiplayer maps from both bf1 and bf2 as Kylo Ren. Loved the banter between Lando and Shriv though.

Let's go kill Rebels, suddenly I'm rebel Luke is here, but now he is gone Oh hey, Solo wants to save the wookies in Kashyyyk, oh no nevermind, we don't want to do that Oh look, it's Lando and his sidekick. Destroy this base. Ok, what was the point of it? Lots of complaints about the length of story, but I saw an interview by Janina were she states that the entire 3rd act hasn't been released yet.It will be released in December as a DLC in conjunction with the release of The Last Jedi. Kind of excited about that. It's Star Wars. I just have fun with it. We complain, but we are getting more Star Wars. It's amazing!

Enjoyed the crap out of this story. I was able to finish up during my thanksgiving weekend and have been doing the arcade mode over and over again. Love that I can just pick up the game and jump in. The connecting points to new canon are really rewarding to someone who has read a majority of the new comic lines. I don’t understand the hate, because I don’t play multiplayer so haven’t encountered any of the micro transactions or any of that.

My problem with the defection was that they had completely advertised it as an 'Imperial Campaign, "you get to play as the bad guys", "you get to see the imperial's PoV", "avenge the emperor". They lent so heavily on that and used it almost solely to sell the campaign and then you just defect 5 missions into the game. I was so glad to finally get a full on Imperial perspective on the 30 years after RoTJ, and then I was completely disappointed with the game's campaign.

I felt like the story tied too much into Shattered Empire. I wanted a fresh, original story and it felt like they were going off a Canon checklist that they felt they had to do to tie this story into everything else. We were promised a story from purely a imperial point of view, but what we got was another star wars story we have seen a thousand times with the rebellion. Iden goes from this battle hardened, imperial agent one second and then abandoning and hating the empire all of a sudden. This was the ONE THING I didn't want them to do. Then there's random parts were you play as classic star wars and some are cool and fit while others (playing as han) felt out of place. Playing as han felt like the game was like oh remember when han went to go help chewie free the wookies. It didn't tie with Iden at all. Then you have Hask or Hack or whatever and he is the most generic, evil character that has barely any chemistry with Iden. So when he betrays you, you don't really care. Then you have iden's father who now loves his daughter after acting like he was going to kill her and stays behind with his star destroyer. We barely had any relationship with them and I didn't really care about him. These are all just story things too. The game is too short, the AI is brain dead, and the a lot of the gameplay sections feel the same with A LOT of defense objection. I was really hoping Kristian and Ken would have a lot of my complaints, but opinions are opinions. I was just hoping for a lot more. Nothing against anyone who really enjoys the story mode.

Length has absolutely nothing to do with quality. Uncharted 2 is one of the best campaigns I've played in years and it's only 6 hours long. Even at 4 hours, it's longer than any Star Wars movie will ever be so it's entirely possible to tell a coherent story in that time.

Yeah Ken, we should give this game's problems a pass, because it isn't a game from the 1980's. From now on, any movie or game that fails at basic storytelling and gameplay, that's OK by Ken's logic because some people put up with bad CGI, 8 bit graphics and bad scripts 20 years ago. You hear that The Last of Us, Uncharted, Red Dead Redemption? Play more games Ken, you would realise games have evolved alot in those 20 years. The game is bad. The story is badly written. Thank you guys for doing this, I love the style that you bring to the Star Wars discussion. This game is hatteeeedddd pretty much universally, but both of you never get sucked into that stuff. You approached this review and recap positively and noted the flaws in a fair manner. The one thing I want to mention as a huge positive to me is Luke Skywalker in this story. He is exactly the representation of our galactic hero, right after ROTJ. He is unquestionably kind, powerful, and has just enough sass to remain that Jedi Knight we saw in Jabba’s palace.

Battlefront 2 shows us why I app perchance blogs I phones not in pc gaming. That's progression items and vanity items. Both used to be free I games as it was part of the game. Time to bring n pack one pice for ll Co tent and if game is popular do expansion games. This is the not a game I will purchase and any future pay for in game purchases ashes gets a wide clearance for me too.

Thank you for this. Being a story/canon junkie, I did want to know the story in the game even though I am not a gamer. I do want to say. The writers, storytellers at Lucasfilm have done a fantastic job, recreating our familiar characters and events and then giving us new characters and connections to the new stories. And there is always the option of if you think you can do better, put your butt in a chair, fingers to the keys or pen to paper. Write something, create a story yourself.

I really liked the campaign. It's been too long since I've played a Star Wars story mode in a game. I agree that some things happen rather quickly but I can forgive it because it was pretty fun. I don't want to jump to conclusions with assuming these are Rey's parents but the timing is suspicious. Not only that but there's going to be a free add on to the campaign mode just before The Last Jedi hits theaters. It's titled "Resurrection" and will show us what Iden Versio is up to in this new era. I believe it comes out on December 9th or 13th. That close to premier makes me feel like it's possible that they're setting upa reveal. Especially since the game is so heavily tied into the lore already. I wouldn't be surprised. Also just like to mention that it was crazy seeing Leia pilot a starfighter and be on Naboo defending her mother's people. It was very poetic and I'm glad it's canon. Also Luke breaking into the Emperor's vault and taking that compass to the first Jedi temple (possibly) was awesome. I wonder what else Palpatine was hiding in there! Janina Gavankar did amazing work. I really hope they use her in live action for something at some point. Seeing how much she truly loves Star Wars and just how well she did, we need people like her.

TheDarkness 666 It seems like you are not informed on the debacle surrounding this game and EA. The only "toxic gamers" are people who actually support this game. This game is literally the worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars and the gaming industry, and we've managed to convince Bob Iger of it and caused EA to lose over 3 billion dollars in stocks. In Star Wars terms, people against this game are the the light side, the rebels, the game is the empire and the dark side.

Idens turn to the rebels was 100x worse than Anakins snap turn to the Dark side. The game is way too short, it felt like half of it was missing, it needed to be 8-10 hours not 3.

EricBlanc everything was felt forced and written for the sake of having hero missions. The only one that felt natural was Luke’s mission. The rest of the story was very poorly written and disappointing

J I M Jenks The title is how Battlefront 2 fits into the Star Wars Universe. Iden’s personal story and how quickly things change in her life decisions is irrelevant to the over arching narrative. The main events, the big conflicts in the story, as well as the Hero story missions fit well into the Universe because it all lines up with the Aftermath trilogy and some of the other post RotJ stories.

I feel like this was only the action and exposition scenes of a story that could be pretty good. There seemed to be a lot of scenes missing that could have shed light on these characters, their motivations, decisions, and relationships. The only real character scene was the one with Luke and Del. I agree with Ken that I'd love to see a novelization, but I would love even more to see them use the cut scenes they have and add to them to make an animated film.
