I loved the game, but I never thought about the mental health journey until I saw the unbroken title. I had to have it, and I climbed the Mountaintop to get it. It really feels like a storyteller recounting your legend. To New Lights, and children alike. I like to imagine Byf, veteran, sage scholar Warlock that he is, leaves his chambers of archives and scrolls, to sit and teach New Lights of the tales of Sol. Considering the history of Sol before the Collapse was lost.
@d3w1h76 ай бұрын
I’ve always been a huge fan of viewing our character from an outside perspective because when you think about it, any other person must think we are the most insane guardian to ever exist. The sheer amount of gods, almost gods, false gods, machine gods, etc. we have killed is insane. In lore it’s YOU who has been the one to clear every single raid (and flawlessed them in lore), save the city, prevent even greater threats from appearing, and any other situations that needs someone to save it. We are literally the only guardian with light at a point, we saved Saint thought to be dead, unexiled Osiris, single handedly freed the traveller, and in a few days we will be the ones to take down the strongest god being we have seen yet. We are obviously the main character (no duh) but in lore the citizens of the last city most likely actually see us as THE Guardian. The stories of our feats are greater than any character in the lore.
@Atsuki1326 ай бұрын
@@garrettviewegh9028 I honestly didn't realize the dynamic in saying "we". 9:58:45 God, this made me tear up. Ten whole years of story, wrapped up in ten hours. I was there right before the Taken King came around. Around the time of SIVA is when I started to listen to your readings of the lore. It's been one hell of a ride. Thank you for this monumental video. For the New Lights, for the Vets, and for those that have long since hung up their bonds, their cloaks, or their marks, I'm happy to have interacted with each and every one of you whom have taken me through legendary stories, uproarious laughter, or maddening grudge matches in the Crucible. I hope to see many of you at The Pale Heart, where Destiny awaits. See you starside.

Byf got a much younger me to realize how great the lore of this game is shortly after I started playing D2 by teaching me all about the midnight coup. Once I was able to retell that story to others that I raided with, I fell in love with the concept of there being more than meets the eye in the world of D2, and have become an extensive lore master myself. Thank you, Byf!

Man. Just finished this up. What a monumental work of art you and the guys put together. I teared up on the final 2 minutes. I look back over the last 10 years. The guys/ my best friends I met in the D1 days. Met a few of them and invited them to my wedding. This game has allowed me to build relationships with my guys that I never dreamed possible. 10 years of conversations, 10 years of memories, 10 years of history. 10 years of Destiny, 10 hours of lore, and the final two minutes of reflection. Grateful for the impact this game had on me, not because it was fun and shit at the same time, but because of the brothers I now have because of it. I don’t know that there is anyone that could have summarized it up like you did in those last 2 minutes but man. Thank you for creating something that stirred my heart so deeply. Thank you for making this for us. Thank you for always being you, and always giving us clarity. It’s been an honor.

its why the lore in destiny is so good. all of it is accessible for you to read from the lore books. my favorite one to read was the series about elsy's original timeline. We learn why she resets. We learn why shes so confused about us. We learned why shes the way she is. But my biggest takeaway from that dark timeline was how fucking EPIC zevala is. Without that lore book, hed just be the stoic vanguard titan in my eyes. But in that timeline, he has 1 leg and demolishes the entire Scarlett Keep with a thundercrash. elsy witnesses mara sov die, eris morn is fully consumed by the darkness and the hive, and ana bray herself puts the final blow into elsy. She wakes up at square 1, trying to change the outcome, only to die and reset. Its not until we enter the picture and everything gets wacky that she finally gains hope, and why she teaches us to wield the darkness and no one else, its because in her timeline, stasis corrupted ana bray and eris morn.

Good god! As someone who has only ever dabbled a little in Destiny f2p and been thoroughly confused in an attempt to, in my own way, experience the journey of a Guardian through wiki entries, only having recently found out just how compelling the lore of this universe is, only ever having caught vague glimpses of the story at play through cutscenes and gameplay clips, this is a truly magnificent chronicling effort you have pulled of here, revealing a saga I truly did not know in its epic scale in comprehensive fashion. Even as it is mainly just a voice over retelling of the key points of story and lore there are to know, I would still count this 10 hour masterpiece among the best cinematic experiences I have been honored to witness. All due respect to the artists, writers, editors and all the work that has gone into this, you have far and away outdone yourselves.

10 years ago I didn't have a clue what this was other than those that made Halo had part in this. During the time I had just got news that my Mother had stage 4 cancer. Destiny brought me into this world to detour my pain and surely random party invites would get me through my first raid not even knowing it was called that. I slowly would use KZbin alot to figure things out then eventually I heard "Greeting Guardians"... The rest was history. Thank you for giving us the mysteries to life. Hearing you tell this lore brought peace in restless days. I appreciate this.

I remember the first Destiny trailer. The hype; the chills. The light of the Sun blazing across the red sands took me to a place that would be my home for years to come. I was there when we pushed Atheon off the ledge with Solar grenades. I was there when we permastunned Crota, entered the Prison of Elders for the first time, and crafted the first Touch of Malice. I was there when the tower was taken and when we lost our light, and I was there when we found it again. I was there when we mourned the loss of friend and a leader, and I was there when that loss hit us in real life, too. I stepped away some time ago, to raise little lights of my own, and when I exited The Witch Queen’s throne world for the last time, I knew I most likely wouldn’t see these frontlines again. But these stories make a grizzled and grumpy Guardian smile again. The memories and struggles, the years spent, the sweat lost. Thank you, Destiny. Thank you, Bungie. Thank you, Byf.

Went to a random Taco Bell ten years ago, the packaging was bright sky blue with a QR code to enter a giveaway for a PS4 and a copy of this new game called Destiny. I begged my mom to scan it and enter, and even though we never won, that game stuck with me. I shoveled snow all over my neighborhood that winter to save up for a copy, and I've stayed with it since. This game got me through middle school, high school, college, a pandemic, multiple breakups and family deaths. It's become a much bigger part of my life than I ever thought it would, and I can't wait to see where it goes next. Eyes up, Guardian.
