Now being "thicc" or muscular is the attractive feature in both men AND women. This makes a lot of sense as natural (not chemically enhanced) muscle is naturally attractive through evolution, indicating good health, fitness and ability to survive. But is also in modern times an indication of wealth, you eat good food high in protein and vitamins, you have the spare time and income to invest in time working out and going to the gym etc.

Research shows that people prefer a healthy glow from food with carotenoids then a tan from sun/tanbed. Remember it's needs to be a healthy balance, you can over eat it and it won't be as attractive. it's shows that you are healthy and have a healthy diet meaning that you can produce healthy off spring.

The 20's photo is super interesting. I'm not sure if her face really is that down-swung or the lower eyebrows (unlike the sky high ones we prefer today), plus the way she is looking up which make us see the whites below the iris, AND tilting her head down to de-emphasize the chin all contribute to that impression. I bet if she smiled with her teeth, though, we'd see excellent teeth.

Fashions change, beauty endures. According to evolutionary psychology, beauty is universal. Most people agree as to what is beautiful regardless of ethnicity. It is about symmetry, optimal development and a low number of genetic mutations.
@badgirl84892 жыл бұрын
That’s totally not true because in my country I swear there are people who have symmetrical face and healthy body but considered ‘not beautiful’ just “average” !! And there are fat people with no symmetry on their faces NOT at all but they are considered “beautiful” to “extremely beautiful” just because they have green eyes , blonde hair or fair skin Yeah believe it this is the beauty standards in where I live.

If you did enough of a meta-study of the literature on attractiveness, you’d find that even on a population level there’s very little consistent data on what’s attractive. I being a straight cis-man didn’t pay too much attention to the perceptions of female beauty (only mine matters to me), but when it comes to male beauty in the eyes of women, the only strong correlations are that the waist to chest ratio needs to be MAXIMUM 0.9 and preferably closer to 0.8, you (generally) need to be taller than the woman looking at you, and your general facial proportions need to be close to average. And although bodybuilders hate BMI, the range of attractive BMI is 21-26 based on the country and urban/rural women. Everything else is completely and utter bullshit because the conclusions have so much scatter it’s basically random. Just imagine, people have spent decades of their lives focusing on ideas of beauty that are absolute horse shit. I still Mew though, because it improves the quality of my life.

@@_homha5242 Exactly as stated. It is not genetic, the very studies that people say supposedly prove that it's '60%' heritable. Clearly show that it is NOT genetic. These are studies done on twins. And if I remember right, only in 60% of the cases it was so that either BOTH had it or NEITHER had it. That means in 40% of the cases one had it but not the other. This CLEARLY indicates it's NOT genetic. And yet people keep pushing that myth. If I'm hearing the echoes right, it is actually a ruined gut that causes it. At least, many many people make their symptoms go away by healing their gut. No other means have been shown to heal allergies. So stay clear of anti-biotics. I personally am still trying to heal. Regarding the black and white farmer image peoples’ lack of “dimples” or hollow cheeks as you will, I believe it’s because they had improper eating posture due to a lack of table manner necessity. You say they were poor and lived in the countryside, so even though they developed wide and positively grown faces from the tough diet, they probably were not concerned with sitting upright, mindfully eating, keeping elbows off the table, etc. This caused them to not allow their cheek muscles to atrophy. They most likely were hungry after a hard day’s work in the field or such, and they ate rapidly to satiate themselves and had no concern or ceremony to stand on with regards to impressing anyone with table manners. Look at this clip from the first “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. The aristocratic Elizabeth begins eating properly as she has been brought up to do while dining in a formal setting. Once Captain Barbosa informs her that there’s no need to act like that and mentions that she must be starving, watch how she reverts to a primal state and engorges herself on the feast. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4PLdH6Pq8aDrLM

Hey Mr Mew, can you make a video about people who can't breathe while mewing? And solution for that problem
@DanteLikesRock2 жыл бұрын
It's due to there not being enough space (yet) in your mouth. You probably have a really narrow dental arch which makes it difficult to keep your tongue up without being able to breathe. I think getting mechanical assistance first before trying to mew (not sure though) is your best bet, or you can just do hard mewing (if you can) for a few months until it creates the space required to breathe while mewing.

“The wealthy were fatter.” This is funny. Now everyone is fatter. I would like to know why people develop big noses. Is it related with not getting enough oxygen and the body adapts by making the nose big and making the nose able to process more air in one breath? When I was pregnant my nose became bigger (supposedly, very common during pregnancy, maybe due to more oxygen demands). Thankfully, became normal again after it. It might be the case that big noses and mouth breathing are all indicative of insufficient oxygenation and the body compensates. Instinctively, when I see a big nose or mouth breathing I think of the person having poor health.

I've respected your work, and mewed, for about 7 years. This video is ridiculous. These are all very old ideas, that can be easily contradicted, and it's evident you're both literally guessing at it even in the video. People tend to be attracted to people whose faces somehow resemble their own, (most people have probably noticed that many couples look like they could be siblings). The wealthy (eating softer food) who could afford to request paintings, to buy sculptures and paintings and to view paintings, would have fallen victim to this mentality too, explaining how the "less developed" faces in artwork started and continued. Then, in more modern times (i.e. your 20's photograph) most people in western cultures were eating softer food. They'd see that 20's girl, and feel that familiarity-attraction. See? Another bit of guesswork, that also makes sense, whilst debunking the guesswork here. You can probably think of tons more. Are only poor, hard diet people attracted to people like Ryan Gosling? Are only rich, soft diet people attracted to him? What humans find attractive is an extremely broad, nuanced, interesting science. This is supposed to be a science-based channel. If you're going to guess at it, is it really worth cheapening the science of your channel with it?

Sure it might have been popular to have a resesssed chin back then but just cause it’s popular does not mean it’s good looking.
