I used to work with a dude who was one of those ppl who just knew everyone and what was up. He told me one day the cops were after cuz and wanted to ruin his career cos they knew what he was doing but they had yet to be able to prove anything cos cuz was smart and ppl were protecting him, and it was pissing them off. At the time i didnt believe him coz this was in early 2004 when cuz was the sqeaky clean golden boy. But clearly he knew what he was talking about and they got what they wanted eventually.
