How Big is a 2500, 4000, 6000, 7500 Spinning Reel?

It just depends on the company. I have a 5000 kastking that is smaller than my penn 4000. And daiwa is a whole size bigger than all others unless it's in their LT lineup. And a shimano 5000 will have the line capacity of a 3000 from other makers. This video is great for people who are just getting into fishing and have no idea what to buy.

I just received the Penn III 4000 today. Its smaller than I thought it would be. I havent fished it just yet, it does seem to be well made, smooth and quiet. The drag works really well, tightening down the drag with little effort. I have an old Daiwa 4000c and 7000c reels that still work great. I just wanted a new 4000 size reel. The Penn 4000 spool across the top is 2", my Daiwa 4000 is 2.5" across the top. Considerably smaller with line you might want to use. Sitting the Penn 4000 and my Daiwa 4000 side by side. It looks like my Daiwa's 7000 and 4000 sitting next to each other. One is noticeably larger, Hopefully not an issue. If I had know this I would of bought the Penn 5000 or possibly the 6000. But I wanted a 4000 size reel. The Penn 4000 smallish ( to me ) spool, something to keep in mind when purchasing with what line you may want to use or how you might be using it.

Thanks for commenting. It seems like the newer reels are designed to handle braided line better than the old school spinners. When I was a kid I had a Diawa 4000c, man I loved that reel.

Jc. Im tring to put spiderwire braid on a reel i just got. But all the vids i watch r different. When you respool. Do u have the braid come off filler spool clockwise or counter clockwise. Cause something so simple is giving me a headache.

Nice video I fish deep rivers and ocean so I use only 4000 with 20 mono or 30 braid. And 6000 with 65 braid or 40 mono big fish like stripers in both areas I fish. So I use heaver line bigger size reel. But have the ability to go ponds if needed but I don't. I need line capacity. So this set up works the best for me our river maxes out at 90 feet. The rule of thumb is 7 feet of line to 1 foot of water to hold bottom. I love bottom fishing. Think of where your fishing and how deep rocks mono rest braid how much line is key. To small and your not fishing.

I have a 2500 Shimano Sahara and a 2500 ugly tuff spinning reel. The ugly tuff is TINY compared to the Shimano. Almost need the 6000 to allow for as much line as is on the Shimano. Why is it always so different. I'm new to fishing and really have no clue what I'm doing. Thanks for the vid!

In my neck of the water they are good deals and I like the no anti reverse switch that always leaks LOL, And I hat spending over $65-85 for a reel for surf and Kayak. I've never fished with a 10' rod, but the bigger the reel then it holds more line, it's a bigger spool and the longer the cast.

Not sure, it would depend on the area I was fishing and how far I needed to cast. There are some charts on the internet that will give you an idea of what would be acceptable.

That reel is a poor choice in my opinion. It broke after three months of use. Get a PENN PURSUIT 3, a FAR better reel and it's cheaper too.

Figure I'll be alright because iam guessing the larger number means larger weight catch not sure but should be ok. Got a kast king summer 4000 and a bass x rod from St croix rods 7.1 hed-heavy. Cant wait to use it.
