I worked inside Honda R&D for 30 years in Torrance CA. I saw and worked on many projects from the very first NSX to the newest NSX plus many motorcycle, ATV, PWC, and the Honda Jet. I was luck enough to meet Mr. Honda and I worked on a project like this video but about the man him self. This video is right on. I am very proud of what Honda has done and that I was able to make a career working at a place like that. "Honda seeks to be a company that society wants to exist, creating products and technologies that improve the lives of people, while minimizing the environmental impacts of our products and business operations to ensure a sustainable future for society."

@@gaboaaa23 nope but he's making the comparison that GM and the big 3 in general fought emmision regulations. Said it would cost more and not achievable. Honda met the 1975 emulsion regulations in 1972 introducing the Civic CVCC in 74 as s 1975 model. It met the EM standards and got great fuel economy as well. They took a GM vehicle with a 350 V8 in it, modified the heads and carburetor similar to their CVCC engine and met the 1975 emissions and got a small fuel economy increase. Look this up. They had some problems with the CVCC cyl head but overcame them and looked after the customer completely. Still do that but get sidetracked a bit, always get back on track to Soichiro Honda's legacy, take care of the customer.

@Kevin Warburton that's the whole prob with everything, Soichiro Honda was a mechanic or a technician if you will. He ploughed ahead and tried stuff. Can't do that these days and he wouldn't get hired by Honda Motor Co Ltd with out a degree or PhD in stargazing or a PhD in why the dark side of the moon isn't dark if you get my Pink Floyd Drift. We don't have hands on capable or responsible people steering the damn ship anymore. Political correctness is paramount and that don't even do that correct. And if anyone thinks oil is going to disappear anytime soon it's not. Big oil has lots of clout and that's the most profitable enterprise on the planet = related to all of this. . GM engineering accounting, directors, CEO and senior management caused the death of many people due to a cheap faulty ignition switch. That was purposely done then covered up. Then the switch was modified to have a better detent position in the run position, they kept the original part number after the change and kept it quiet. That was done to mislead and bury the problem. Complicity to cause death or injury to unsuspecting motorists and operators of those affected and otherwise ordinary folks driving or in proximity to a failure waiting to happen.. Then denied the change or order to do so. To this day up there are affected Pontiac, Chev Cruise and Saturn models on the road. After the recall was issued for the faulty ignition switches, this appears as an admission of guilt in this Instance as news media brought this to everyone's full attention. Transport Canada was aware of this prob prior to any recall or announcement but relied on GM to let's say take care of it. And they got caught fibbing. Whats that ? A government agency who's supposed to critique this stuff and protect the driving public , yet hammers away on emissions and outgassing hoses. DOH I need a beer. There are many recalls from everyone these days and some are voluntary and initiated in the interest of the customer and the responsible manufacturer. Lawyers and even the switch manufacturer are responsible as well as they aided in the cover up or lobby against any wrong doing. Look up CBC news GM Recall: how the ignition switches fail - the fifth estate. Man it's a convoluted nightmare and a cluster huddle by the agencies that are supposed to protect and regulate against this stuff. Plenty of 1st class journalism here but how many viewed it. The published info on this is compelling but where is the justice or jail terms? I've watched GM through bankruptcies and sales losses and factory closure and always wanted them to stay in business. They can go tits up now after this last go round and closing 5 factories as they don't deserve to be in the manufacturing sector. Maybe Honda, Toyota and the rest can take up the slack.

@@mooglemy3813 Most of the other automobile makers licensed the new engine design from Honda, conceding that their own engineers would not be able to produce a similar motor by the time the new rules would be in place. Notably, although General Motors was also unable to design a sufficiently clean-burning motor, its management was contemptuous of the CVCC engine. The company’s chairman, Richard Gerstenberg, said in 1973: “Well, I have looked at this design, and while it might work on some little toy motorcycle engine, I see no potential for it on one of our GM car engines.” Soichiro Honda took this dismissal as a dare. He bought a 1973 V8 Chevrolet Impala, air-freighted it to Japan, designed a set of CVCC heads to fit the automobile, and flew the car back to the Environmental Protection Agency’s facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for further pollution testing. The car easily passed the stringent 1975 requirements. Which prompted Honda to say in a Playboy interview: “When Congress passes new emission standards, we hire 50 more engineers and GM hires 50 more lawyers.” Excerpt From: Rothfeder, Jeffrey. “Driving Honda.” Penguin Group, USA, 2015-09-09. iBooks. Honda is my favorite Japanese car manufacturer. I've gone with Toyota and Nissan, but always go back to a Honda and I'm satisfied. My second bike was a 1971 Honda CB-750 which I used for ten years and over 102,000 miles with simple maintenance (batteries, clutch cable, brakes, chains, one muffler as I had "dropped" the bike, and a valve cover gasket). I never opened the engine. I still ride classic Hondas, all ten of them! The attention to details and innovations are amazing. Honda makes incredibly high-quality 4-stroke dirt bikes as well. I started on a Honda 50F at age 10 and purchased a 2016 Honda CRF-250X this past summer at age 19. Incredibly high-power & high-torque, liquid cooled, comfortable, and just gorgeous. I will never go anywhere else.

@ColdFusion Excellent video. But you forgot something, a very important one. Ethics. Honda and his associate Takeo Fujisawa did not made billions for themselves to become ultra rich. They shared the wealth by giving good wages and creating employment. They never got astronomical wages, share parts and so on like any murican CEO bleeding his company even in periods of losses. They payed their taxes. They did not hide money in tax heavens They decided to retire on 1973 with their well earned pensions, like any employee...Takeo Fujisawa opened an antique shop in Tokyo...Honda busied himself with work connected with the Honda Foundation, a true foundation, not a Trump one.

@@johngrauman4208 yep they used terms on some assembly lines, but they were far from being treated poorly as you say. But they did come in on a like temporary visa and could stay up to 3 months. I never saw any mistreatment on any of the assembly lines I visited in Japan. So if your from Africa, or the Philippines or Brazil for example you could get a temp job but it didn't displace Japanese workers.

Honda's S2000 introduced in 1999, with its F20C 2-Liter engine is classified as an EPA LEV (low emissions vehicle). Here is a quote from Wikipedia: "The F20C produces the highest specific output for any naturally aspirated 2.0L piston engine in a car priced under US$100,000, at 125 hp (93 kW) per liter. The F20C held the record for producing the highest specific power output for any mass production naturally aspirated piston engine." In addition, the S2000 was the only mid-engine class to achieve a dead center of yaw and gravity balanced with its 4-wheel independent wishbone suspension. Race drivers say it is extremely fun to drive.

+Arcane Anomaly "Mid Engine" is a description from the Wikipedia S2000 page. If you aren't being a Zero-Research Troll and interested to see if the S2000 truly fits the Mid-Engine class, perhaps you may care to check accuracy requirements for Wikipedia articles. Also, take a moment to Google "S2000 Mid-Engine" where you will find information on why the S2000 is a "Mid Engine" class vehicle, where the engine sits entirely between the front and rear axles. If you are adamant that it is a "Front Engine" vehicle then perhaps consider submitting a correction to the Wikipedia article to reduce the "confusion."
@josephroberts2555
@josephroberts2555 6 жыл бұрын
"as mentioned in www.s2ki.com, there is a technical definition of mid-engine that states the engine must be mounted behind the passenger compartment in order to be considered a true mid-engine car." i believe s2ki.com has as much credibility as wikipedia. just because the s2k weight distribution is like a mid engine car does not mean it fits the definition better. s2k is obviously a front engine rear wheel drive car despite its design that was purposely balanced to be like a mid engine car. the engine has to be behind the cabin to be true mid engine otherwise its front engine rear drive... if you ever looked at an s2k that would be obvious... instead of quoting from wikipedia
